If the new taillights were for the 06 &07, yes, you will have to swap out the pigtail sockets to put them into the 01. The sockets are a dealer or salvage item unless your auto parts store has access to the correct pigtails. ---------- Old cruisers never die, they just go down a different highway. _________________________

If the taillight assembly you purchased is for the 06 & 07, then you will have to swap both sockets on each housing. I purchased one of the first aftermarket red / clear lights a few years back that were plug and play for the early cruisers. When DC offered the new look in 06 the sockets were a different style. ---------- Old cruisers never die, they just go down a different highway. _________________________

Re: Tail Lights

I'm starting to think I have a set of tail lights that the socket for the tail/brake lights has been cut/molded incorrectly. I've been to three local Chrysler dealers so far. With the last one, we looked at every possible plug with not one fitting. I just went outside, removed the tail light on my 01 and finding out that the tail/brake light socket already has the three locking tangs but that they still won't line up correctly with the replacement lenses. Can anyone shed any light on this problem for me? I really wanted to use the newer style lenses as a little custom mod. The only thing I can think to do now short of selling them is to try to file the slot longer so that the one tang will drop into the slot and rotate. ---------- New owner 2001 Limited Edition. Shale Green Metallic. Factory stock except Voxx 16X7 wheels, Pirelli P3000 P205/55R16 tires, Tyco backup lights, 2006 tailight lenses, shorty antenna.
