i have an 05 turbo automatic. I want to make it a little quicker and not risk reliability of the car? what modifications can i safely do without risking breakage. i know it all depends on how i drive the car and such but normal driving with a little racing now and then. I would like to do a blow off valve even tho i know they arnt the best thing for the engine. Do the turbos that the PT cruiser hanldle cold air intakes. or are they garbage like the mazda speed turbos that over spin themselves when cold air is installed? What cheap but effective upgrades should i look into? and help is apreciated. THanks Derek ----------

If you mod the automatic have a separate fund to rebuild the trans cause it will happen. With that said go over to PTCrew.com and check out the mod bible. You will find everything you need to know on that site when it comes to performance. ---------- 03 Electric Blue GT 5 Speed S1, Quaife, Hurst and other goodies. 14.3 @96.31

Most of Auto guys do have a seperate fund and just say "Warranty what warranty!" and build up the trans when they kill the OEM one. ----------

1. Don't do anything to add power...and plan on rebuilding your auto tranny at some point 2. Buy Stage 1 and a drop in K&N filter replacement and enjoy the added responce and boost...and plan on rebuilding your auto tranny at some point. 3. Sell your Cruiser and then go buy a GT 5-spd. Add all the mods and even go to a big turbo and make 400 WHP. Upgrade your clutch but don't worry about having to rebuild your 5-spd. 4. Sell everything. Go buy an 07 Z06 Corvette for $70,000. She said a "little quicker" not Z06 quick!! If you have a turbo "lite" the stage 1 will be all you need, but the tranny issue is still there regardless of stage 1 being installed or not. ----------

I got Stage One and K&N drop filter as my "performance addons." I also changed the plugs and wires, while I was at it. I don't do any racing, but I've had no problems with the transmission. It's possible that someday I will, but I don't worry about it. So far it's been 13,000 miles of trouble free driving since the upgrade. ---------- Ted in Columbus, Ohio 2005 Limited Turbo Lite, Linen Gold. Stage 1, AMX-TTAB, K&N drop filter. Yeah, I think everyone with something negative to say jumped in, but anyone who didn't have anything negative to say didn't. I have 13,000 with Stage One, 15,000 altogether. No problems here. If I took my car to the track, street raced, and started doing neutral drops, I'd be expecting trouble. I don't do those things, and I'm not expecting trouble. ---------- Ted in Columbus, Ohio 2005 Limited Turbo Lite, Linen Gold. Stage 1, AMX-TTAB, K&N drop filter. Crane firewires, iridium plugs. My auto tranny on my '01 PT went out at 81k miles. That's with a measley 150 hp engine. Most people won't have a problem with the auto tranny. More than the average amount will. Depends what catergory you fall into. There's always that chance. ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto

Nice. You need an aftermarket uppercharge pipe (ucp) to hold you higher boost longer. The factory ucp balloons at high boost and won't hold it as long. What's your boost set at on the first stage of your bc and on the second stage of your bc. ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto

Thanks Matt, I missed that......I'm interested how you are spiking to 21 on the second stage without pulling timing. I don't see a map clamp listed there. Also do you know what your AFR is 'cause I think you might be running lean spiking to 21 with no fuel mod? Sorry for all the questions. OK I have the DC2 Slap stick an I have 103,000 Miles on the trany. I wont do the Stage 1 due to the miles on the Trany an Motor. I have done the Airbox Mod, K&N filter, 06 Plastic Intake.an the AMX box to turbo pipe I am guessing that due to over the 100,000 miles an mods I am pushing 220 hp. ---------- http://community.webshots.com/user/davidrs100

You had better check your air/fuel ratio because at 21 lbs you are probably running lean and you can burn a hole in your piston. You can't just turn the boost up that high without adding more fuel and without a map clamp you better believe the pcm is pulling timing. With Stage 1 anything over 18.5 lbs of boost the pcm will pull timing and you will actually be slower. ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto
