12/21/2007: 2008 PT Cruiser Convertible out of production

It's official - the PT Cruiser Convertible is now out of production. Last one built on December 21, 2007. See: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=124169 I suspect only 1-2,000 were built for this final model year - no dealer in my area (Northeast Ohio) has any. Glad I got my 2007 Marine Blue Spring Special in April - I love it. For those who have one - cherish it. For those looking to get it, get one before they're all gone! ----------

I stop in my dealer every now and then so they can see what i have done to my DC4 ,as it is the only one they ever sold, and they still have a brand new red '06 GT Convertible sitting on the show room floor. I think it is still there because it is a 5 speed, and they are not lowering the price that much either. ---------- '05 GT Dream Cruiser Series 4. No.1109 My Mods PT Trailer Project Our PTs

When I heard that the convertible was being discontinued I said "it's now or never IF I'm not too late!" I looked through various dealer inventories listed on the Chrysler website to find only a few dealers had any and the few listed were all automatics. As I didn't find any 5 speeds, I ordered one in early November; its build date was Nov 24th, and it finally made it to the dealer and I picked it up January 12th. Guess it's pretty rare being a 5 speed, probably one of a 100 or less from the 2008 model year. As I write this I have had the car only a bit over 2 months and only 2500 miles, much of this on a trip to and from Florida where I was finally able to put the top down for awhile - Connecticut is too cold this time of the year. I am very pleased with the car - it has a good combination of comfort, performance, handling and economy (up to 30.4 MPG on the big trip and it's still a ways from being broken in.)
