hi i am new to this but i really need some help. my mom has a 2002 pt cruiser and we bought it about 8 months ago and it ran great!! but of course tragedy struck and my sister ramed the back into a tree at 45 mph well then it was driving horribly but she didnt want to get caught being at her pot head boyfriends house so she drove it until it broke the timing chain and we had to take it to a mechanic. well he fixed it but it has this thing that keeps getting worse at a low idle when you press the gass it has a delayed go it will jump i guess is how to describe it and so we did the error code thing and it had two codes the first was p1684 which says driver 5 line 4 and the second is p0700 which is transmission control system malfunction can anyonbe tell me what we can do? like maybey what parts we need? any help would be appreciated thanks, the neewb adam ----------

How do you know she was going 45 MPH? The seedometer doesn't read backwards. It stops at Zero./If you have that much damage have her get a Pickup truck or something large. ---------- big jim

JCKID, OK, I've got to admit that I didn't believe your statement that the speedomer still works in reverse. The neighbors probably think I'm crazy, but I just tried it -- and you're right. Now for the next question -- will driving in reverse make miles come OFF the odometer? It seems like that was was happened in the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off on that red Ferrari -- but I never believed that was true either. Guess I won't ask if driving in reverse makes the gas gauge needle go back UP... ----------

I'm calling B.S. A pt won't do 45 in reverse, as it is only one gear. think where the RPMs would be. And why would you be doing 45 in reverse anyway???? Even if you did the damage would be horrible, in fact, to bad to drive with? +1 for pics. sorry for being a jerk in advanced. I just hate drama queens and forum trolls. ---------- 2002 PT 5-Speed. FiveVee, I'll assume your comments apply to the original post by adamj16 - and not mine. Although I DID confirm that the speedo works while driving in reverse, I did NOT try it at 45 mph. ----------

Did you mean she was going 4 or 5 miles an hour? ---------- If it's gonna happen - it's gonna happen out there.
