2005 GT and Mopar Performance Parts? Can't Post

Hey gang, I'm new to the forum, lookin good here!

My GT (5-speed) covnvertible should be arriving at the dealer 1st week of June.

Looking at mopar.com and mopartsracing.com, I see part numbers for 2004 Mopar Stage 1 Turbo Upgrade and the Turbo Cat-Back Dual exhaust, but nothing listed for 2005.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't 2005 GT engine (and 2004) already have the Stage 1 injectors boosting HP to 220 stock? Will there be bigger size injectors for the 2005 S1 kit or no, with the price still remaining at $399?

Will the listed 2004 part numbers fit my 2005? (ex: has Chrysler changed the size and or location of the cats in re: to adding a cat-back exhaust? and is there some issue upgrading the 2005 PCM's to allow burning in the new 2005 VIN's)

For those lucky ones who already have your 2005 GT Convertibles, have you bought and installed any Mopar performance parts yet? If so, what part numbers do you have for the Stage 1 and cat-back dual exhaust mods?

Any regrets with the installs?

FWIW, I also plan on removing the silencer (any performance increase involved here?), thinking of installing Mopar's BOV conversion kit (again, besides the cool noise, any performance gains here), and keeping the stock airbox but with a K&N type filter (are there really any cold-air intakes that really promote cold air?), and installing down and up pipes (again, cold air intakes really worth it?) Any recommendations appreciated!

Thats about all I can do with my budget...anything from above I shouldn't do or replace with other mods (kinda thinking about the big picture and getting immediate bang for the buck with most HP/TQ increases, but doing it right the first time w/out wanting more power down the road and having to swap out parts already installed

OH, BTW, where can I find raised white letter 205/45R/17 tires. I can't find any RWL tires to fit the 17 inch wheels.

Thanks in advance!

Re: [MACE] 2005 GT and Mopar Performance Parts? Can't Post

Hello again Wave, MACE:

Welcome to the PTCC Forums. Thought I would post here for anyone else who may have an interest.

Both the 2004 and 2005 GT have the larger injectors which gives the engines a 220HP rating. I had the Mopar Performance STAGE 1 installed last week on my GT and the only part replaced was the PCM. The Mopar BOV also installed along with a Brand X (AMX1397) Turbo-Up Pipe. The BOV does not provide any performance gains to my Autostick (may prolong life of turbo???) but have heard a BOV enhances the performance of the 5-speed. By replacing the stock turbo to air box pipe (with silencer inside that restricts airflow) your turbo will breath better (straight 3" pipe without silencer) so this would enhance performance, especially at WOT. All together--STAGE 1, BOV, and custom turbo up to air box pipe--makes for a nice performance package upgrade, IMHO. Although I have had mine for only a week now, I DO LIKE IT Smile and, have no regrets about making these performance modifications. Cool

Mopar Stage 1 PCM, Brand X turbo to air box pipe, stock air box with top
white silencer removed

Mace,
Just wanted to welcome you to the club. I've been here awhile, but just got my GT Rag Top today so I will be watching all of the post on the Turbo's. Looks like we have twins....

Gary,
Thanks for the remarks. Look like this "older" kid needs to learn a few things about turbo's etc. Great looking ride. Keep up the good work and hope I meet up with both of you in the future.

Mace,
I'm sure that everyone will be coming out with toys for the 05's real soon. Just keep watching and wishing.Wave

Hey Jack, nice convertible, good color!!!

How many mile you got on her now?

Any mods in the near future?

I'm still researching what is considered the best intake mod, something that will promote the most cold air and HP/TQ increase: stock air box with silencer(s) removed and K&N type filter with the AMX pipe or Adams pipe with cone filter.

Other than the above, cat-back dual exhaust, Stage 1 turbo upgrade, and a BOV will be installed

May install a IAT (Intak Air Temp) adjustor as well, currently have one on my 2001 4.7 Dakota, works pretty well.

Good luck with your covertible, mine should be delivered to the dealer by this coming w/e!!!

First, I ordered one from the dealer... 8 long weeks to wait but I was selling my 01 Taupe to that was OK.

Then, I sold the Taupe so I called the dealer and they found one in Denver on Wed and I received on Thu. At the time of delivery, it had 87 miles since they drove it up from Denver.

Any mods in the future...... of course. Did first one on Thu... had to get re-locate the ugly windshield washer hose so its not hanging out in the open. I can't believe Chrysler is still doing that. (Got the zip ties a little tight). Changed in on the Taupe also..... see attached picture. Other mods... pinstriping, clear bra, hood struts, lowering springs, tail lights, chrome bumpers and spears..... and.....

Lots of Cruising in the Colorado Rockies

Do you have pistures of the tail lights??? Where did you get yours from. The tail lights from the sedan don't fit the convertible.

Re: [PT RAGTOP] 2005 GT and Mopar Performance Parts? Can't Post

Wave Hey gang...I'm loving my ragtop PT...this is the first PT we have owned and boy is it too much fun...not even 1 1/2 months and already had to get the first oil change...I love driving this one...
Todays question?
I have the Touring Edition with the mid range turbo - 180hp - and being of non technical mind here - was wondering if the turbo upgrades go for my engine the same as the GT model?
Thanks guys,
Vince

Re: [MACE] 2005 GT and Mopar Performance Parts? Can't Post

Hey Cruisers:

I've been advised NOT to order any 2004 Mopar Performance parts (S1 Turbo Upgrade or Turbo Dual Cat-Back Exhaust) for my soon to be delivered 2005 GT Convertible because not one Chrysler Engineer will verify said parts will fit/work on my 2005.

That being said, has anyone installed Mopar's BOV conversion kit on their 2005 GT convertibles yet?

Again, thanks in advance!
