2006 Cargo Area Ideas? (stroller) Can't Post

Hi, just got my PT, I am looking at the shelves for the cargo area. So, I just want one shelf and I can use it many ways? Anyone here have a stroller in theirs? We will soon enough and I see that it would probably fit Vertically better than horizontally (the stroller) once I have oh say groceries or something....and I am wondering if I even want a shelf?! It didn't come with one and I think I really like the diamond plated ones.....

CoolHello and welcome to the PTCC.Here is the best price on ebay for the cargo shelf http://cgi.ebay.c om/ebaymotors/2003-Chrylser-PT-Cruiser-rear-cargo-shelf_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ63690QQihZ020QQitemZ300188384900QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW One thing I routinely use is auction sniper for items that I really want. Record the item number,go to auction sniper and place the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the item and and leave it alone. If the maximum bid placed is less than your maximum amount in sniper it automatically places your bid with 5 seconds left in the auction and whala it is yours. You do not get involved in bidding wars, the high bidder goes to sleep, and you save money all at the same time. www.auctionsniper.com The first 3 snipes are free.Tell them mdc-vmvc sent you.Happy hunting .......God Bless.........Mike

 Wave Hi,

The shelf has many uses, I have used mine in almost every position (5 total), but I always keep it on the top bracket to keep the grocery lookers guessing.

If you decide you want a shelf, but you want something out of the ordinary, even if it costs a little more; I make custom wood shelves for the back of the PT Cruiser. I made one for myself about 2 years ago and it looks nice, I got plenty of comments when I showed it with my tail-gate display at a car show.

Take Care

I'll trade you trying to fit a stroller in vs. trying to fit my wifes non folding wheelchair in :)

We've pretty well decided she won't be going with me in the Cruiser very often, if ever. We have a Caravan to transport her in.

I don't have any problem getting my nonfolding wheelchair in the back of mine. I even do it by myself. I had the back seats taken out a long time ago. Are you talking about an electric wheel chair? Now that I can see having problems with.

Were are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

Re: [red one] 2006 Cargo Area Ideas? (stroller) Can't Post

Nope, a manual one. At this point I really don't want to take the back seats out although it has crossed my mind. Actually we're not worried about whether we can get her chair in it or not. The cruiser was purchased with the intention of being my vehicle to drive back and forth to work and general running around. We'd use the Caravan when she wanted to go some place. It will allow here to stay in her chair. Sitting in the Cruiser, she'd not be able to see out any of the windows as she has a very short trunk due to compressed and curved spine.

Do you have a picture of the wood shelf that you could share? Were you able to duplicate the leg so it will still provide the same functions as the original?

 Wave Hi sent1,

I was able to duplicate the whole OEM shelf with the leg. The shelf also works in all 5 positions.

Here is a picture of it.

Cheering Hey Leo, I have always loved your table, how about making and selling those? I would be your first customer! I know you are a little busy with school but how about your vacation time?

Re: [MICKEY41] 2006 Cargo Area Ideas? (stroller) Can't Post

 Wave Hey Mickey,

I have actually been thinking about making shelves to sell; I just do not know how many people will buy them. They usually take me about a week to make because of the varnish and stuff. I do not know how much they would be to ship. I thought of making a few to sell at cruising events, but I do not want to stay with a full inventory.

If I would decide to make some, it would have to be during the months of:

December
June - August

Since the OEM shelf costs about $149.95 and the OEM Stand costs $37.95 totaling $187.90 plus shipping; I do not think there will be much of a price hike on my shelves. It all basically depends on the price of lumber at the time of order.

CheeringHi Leo, Maybe you will get some feedback concerning an interest from the forum. Perfect place to sell them at a rally or take orders. I paid $160.00 for a factory one, stupid of me or lazy. I looked at your pictures, thanks, and when did you get the red flames? Loved the glow show ones. Take care,
Mickey Cheers

Well, I went a purchased some Oak hardwood to try my hand at making a shelf. I'm going to see if I can get a hand from one of my customers that happens to build cabinets. They have all the cool woodworking machines...
