2007: Does your key turn off your alarm?

I have a 2007 and it is annoying that I can`t use the key to turn off the alarm.
I have to use the remote at all times. The service advisor says it`s a security
issue and Chrysler made it that way. Is that true? When I had my 2001 and 2005
I did not have this problem.
