Here is another great event.........number 5 in March 2008 www.ptriverrun.com This event has no club sponsors, an event planned just for PT Cruisers and it owners. Great prices on rooms plus a fun place to take a vacation and attend an event at the same time. Wayne ----------

Quote: What's in Alabama?
Fried food, indoor plumbing, Milo's tea, and US! List of area attractions: http://www.bcvb.org/...attractions-list.asp Last year, we went to the Barber Motorsports Museum and Park. It has a racetrack (seen on the Speed Channel) and the largest collection of vintange motorcycles and racecars in the world. Although not on the agenda this year, it is about a 20-minute drive from where we'll be. http://www.barbermotorsports.com/...portspark-museum.php I've heard that some folks are going back over there either Friday or Sunday. For pics of last year, go here: http://www2.snapfish.com/...28535300/t_=28535300 or visit our Web site below my signature. This year: Show-n-glow Friday night at the host hotel, which is adjacent to lots of dining and shopping options. Saturday We will have our car show/picnic at Vulcan Park. http://www.visitvulcan.com/index.html Vulcan is the largest iron statue in the world. You can ride an elevator up there and get a panoramic view of Birmingham (to the front) and Homewood (behind his hiney). Our awesome DJ from last year will be doing the show again, and we'll have fried chicken with all the fixins. There is a lot of nightlife in Birmingham; lots of entertainment venues. One pocket is going out to karaoke Saturday night. For those staying Sunday, we are going to visit the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, which are very close to our home base. http://www.bbgardens.org/ IMHO, April is the most beautiful month in Alabama. All the azaleas, jonquils, and dogwoods will be in bloom. Aross the street is the zoo. http://www.birminghamzoo.com/ Depending on the size of our group on Sunday, I'm thinking lunch at Chez LuLu, my favorite place. http://www.birminghammenus.com/chezlulu/luluabout.php Here's a very accurate description I found online: A bit of romantic Europe in the middle of Alabama! Chez LuLu serves gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, and salads along with sinful dessert selections like crustless cheesecake, bread pudding du jour and seasonal pies. The decor pairs mismatched tables and place settings with some very interesting artwork. Open later on weekends. Be sure to stop in on Sunday for brunch. We had a Texan last year, and hopefully she will get to come this year as well! We have folks coming from all over the country. (OH, GA, FL, TN, MI, OK, OR so far.) Please join us! We're also doing a Best Club Participation award this year, so bring your friends! ----------

It used to be in August. We moved it because it was 105º last year, with mosquitoes, bugs, and gators. (Well, actually the gators are down in Mobile; not in Birmingham.) We moved it to April for better weather. Temps are usually in the 70s with NO humidity. And the bugs aren't going good yet. And everything is in bloom. It is gorgeous here in April. ----------

Swamps? That's the Everglades! Birmingham and Mobile are very different cities. I usually go down to Mobile in the spring for Mopars at the Battleship and spend the weekend. They're even in a different climate zone. Mobile is a coastal city. Birmingham is in the foothills of the Appalachians, so it is very hilly and covered with trees. It's also the largest city in the state. (Not saying one is better than the other; they are just very different). The beauty of Alabama's geography is that you have beaches, flat farmland, and mountains, depending on what part of the state you're in. Kind of like California, only we don't have a desert! I've had the pleasure of visiting California three times (unfortunately, pre-PT), and it is a lovely state. I have some cousins out there. ----------

You know I was just giving you a hard time . Last time I was in Alabama was 35 years ago. I was 15 and didn't get to see much while I was out there. Maybe some day after I retire I can do a lot more traveling and see what I missed while I was there. ---------- Were are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

Honey, I'm not mad at you! My cousin, Paul, lives out in Desert Hot Springs, and he came to visit about 4 years ago. We had a big time. I've never seen the desert (well, I heard I did when I was three), but I would really like to get out there to see him one day. I've been to San Francisco to see my other cousin (been 20 years ago!), and I've been to Santa Barbara on business before. It was just gorgeous. ----------
