I'm sure this will sound way off the wall but I'm going to give it a shot. Since I've heard that the srt-4 neon and the pt's are based on the same chassis, would it be possible to bolt the srt-4 parts onto the pt frame and convert the pt to AWD??? I'm sure I'd have to swap engine and trans and all that but thats the least of my worries. Anyone have any insight? ---------- -Stage 1, Boost Gauge, Oil Pressure Gauge, WRX Hood Scoop, Goldline Drop Springs, Greddy Profec B-spec II -Trying to decide what mod to do next

Anything can be done with money. I've seen V6 and V8's in PT's so why not AWD's. ----------

Neon SRT-4 is not AWD so making a PT AWD is all custom. You should be able to put an SRT-4 engine in a PT (you'll have to change some things like the intake manifold) but there are no AWD parts to transfer over.

sorry I worded it funny when I wrote it, I know the srt4 isn't awd and that will have to be custom fab'd. I was saying more along the lines of engine, trans, suspension (since I know the pt suspension wont be able to take it) and anything else that might need to be beefed up. ---------- -Stage 1, Boost Gauge, Oil Pressure Gauge, WRX Hood Scoop, Goldline Drop Springs, Greddy Profec B-spec II -Trying to decide what mod to do next

Actually I think the PT suspension CAN take it with only some light modifications such as beefed up springs, strut/shocks, sway bars, poly suspension bushings. There are people who have boosted their PT turbos to make much more power than the stock SRT-4 engine puts out (just ask mean green). Don't underestimate the PT suspension... it's a beautiful thing. Depending on how much power you want to go up to, I'm not convinced that AWD adds all that much value. Unless you're talking about so much power (300+) that you can't put it down through two wheels, and you're gonna go drag racing with it, I'd stick with the front drive - rear drive woulda been better but... With moderate power (under 300) that can be put down through two wheels, your car will be faster with 2Wd because you won't experience the power loss in the AWD drivetrain. Not to mention that you save yourself all the trouble (don't underestimate the work... it's LOTS of work and you haffta get it right). As a side benefit, 2WD gives you a better gas mileage. Now go for it and don't forget to take lots of pix throughout the project and share. ---------- 2001 silver Limited-Touring (leather/suede, 4W disk, traction, heated mirrors & all :-) Mods: Tokico HP all around / Energy Suspension Master Kit / K&N drop-in / R1 Concepts drilled & slotte disks all around / Enkei RPF1 16x7 wheels & Conti Extreme Contact rubber / Prestige APS620 remote starter
