A Warranty Question?
|
Can't Post
|

Can anyone tell me why Chrysler changed the warranty of the 2006 models to 3/36 and now have the lifetime warranty? When I bought my 05', it came with the 7/70. What's up with all the warranty changes from Chrysler? ---------- "Just Cruisin' Lite."

Well, that's a given but... I have never seen a car company make so many warranty changes in such a short period. It makes a person wonder? ---------- "Just Cruisin' Lite."

It's my understanding the 2006 model is 3/36 period. That stopped me from trading in my 2005 when they told me that! I asked the salesman, "why on Earth would I want to go from 7/70 to 3/36 on a newer model"? He had no response! Here's how my warranty reads: 3/36K Bumper to Bumper. 5/50K Body Panels. 7/70K Drivetrain. The 2006 Model (according to the Chrylser salesman) is 3/36K on all of the above. ---------- "Just Cruisin' Lite."

Hi Bo the 3 year 36 thousand bumper to bumper warrantee has always been in place for all new Chrysler cars. When PT first came out it had a 7 year/70000 mile powertrain warrantee and now the powertrain warrantee is lifetime.I really wonder if this is transferrable and extends to all the product lines so I will try to get a copy of the full warrantee for grins and giggles.Reason is simple decresed sales......God Bless....Mike ---------- Mike Casabianca His: 2001 Black LE with Auto Transmission, BullDog Signs Flames, WeatherTec wind deflectors, cargo area mat, PT trash can, PT valve stem caps and Dart's coldair intake, chrome tail and headlight bezels, chrome bumper inserts, chrome license plate pillow, chrome fender trim, 1940's retro chrome on front and back fenders, door spears, chrome hatch door trim, chrome gas door, brushed chrome door sills, billet door pins, custom "BlueHaze" dash mat, MRK Group lugnut covers, dome light trim, etc. and the chrome goes on...... Hers: 2003 Patriot Blue Woody with Automatic Transmission, Bulldog Signs Eeyore, Cargo area mat, WeatherTec wind deflectors, PT valve stem caps, PT trash can, "BlueHaze" custom dash mat, and chrome tailpipe extension, "Old School" wood shifter knob, wood and chrome door pins, MRK Group interior knob and switch covers, door surrounds, and dome light trim, chrome door surround trim, white eeyore window decals, smoothie hub cap, wood eeyore plaques ....and the Wood goes on http://community.webshots.com/user/mdcvmvc

WOW Mike, that is strange isn't it? Why would Chrysler do the 7/70K when they came out all the way thru the 2005 model year, then drop it to 3/36K and now offer the lifetime warranty? It just doesn't make sense? I don't think I will ever understand Mopar! ---------- "Just Cruisin' Lite."

Another bad bit of news that I heard from one of my friends that has friends in Chrysler is even though the PT is selling they are killing the line in 2009 to make room for new chrysler product lines. If that is the case I only hope that they let the PT be remembered as the Little car that Changed the world. You are right Chrysler doesn't really make sense......Mike ---------- Mike Casabianca His: 2001 Black LE with Auto Transmission, BullDog Signs Flames, WeatherTec wind deflectors, cargo area mat, PT trash can, PT valve stem caps and Dart's coldair intake, chrome tail and headlight bezels, chrome bumper inserts, chrome license plate pillow, chrome fender trim, 1940's retro chrome on front and back fenders, door spears, chrome hatch door trim, chrome gas door, brushed chrome door sills, billet door pins, custom "BlueHaze" dash mat, MRK Group lugnut covers, dome light trim, etc. and the chrome goes on...... On my 2005 I got an opiton for what the dealer called a "full wrap" whic gave me 7/70 on all 3 areas you mentioned, this added 35 bucks per month to my payment but felt it was worth it. ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

Our very early release PT (April 2000) only came with a 3/36 warranty. We paid extra for a 7/100,ooo mile warranty that was used well over the years . It just ran out in April this year. Our 2004 Ram 1500 Hemi has the 7/70 powertrain (with $100 deductible). Now they're all lifetime as far as I've heard. Makes me feel a little burned each time when they bump it up, since I am not really a trader-inner (my own word! ;)). Having LIFETIME powertrain would at least be some consolation 15 years down the line that the repairs might not ALL come out of our pocket. ---------- ~Rachael / HomeGrown Customs Happily Cruisin' my thoroughly modified 2001 Touring since 4-12-00!

You talk about feelin' like you got ripped? Three weeks after I bought the 2005, Chrysler came out with that Employee Discount and I could have saved over $4K. You should have heard the words that came out of my mouth when I heard about that! ---------- "Just Cruisin' Lite."
