Add Remote Keyless Entry

New to forum, Just bought a 2006 PT. seems to be a base model not many options. It has power locks but not Remote keyless entry. I would like to add it. Does anyone know if the wiring is all there if I bought a RKE module with FOB's from a junkyard? or if I cant find one at a junkyard.. if the wiring is there for it would be an easy place to tap in with an aftermarket unit? anyone have any experience with that. From my searching the net it appears the factory RKE module would be above the stereo somewhere Thanks for any help Jeff Beck ----------

The wiring may be there (I know the Fog light wiring was there for my 05 & 06), however the module may have to be programmed and turned on with a Star Scan. Also in 06 the keyless entry fob is part of the key and the chip in the key could not be re-programmed to start your car and these keys with programming are about $ 200, unless you want 1 key for the keyless entry and another to start the car. Your best bet would probally be an aftermarket unit. MCM electronics has a nice one that you can install to work like factory (Priorty un-lock, horn chirp, dome light, and park light flash). The only problem is all chryslers use a single wire door lock system so you may have to buy some resistors and extra relays for the unit to work. Also you may need extra relays and sockets for some of the extras, and there is nothing in the instructions about how to wire it with priorty un-lock, you have to wire it using a series of Bosh relays. Installation time if you add all the extras is probally a good 3-4 hours. Hope this helps. ----------
