After Market wheel Covers

Yippie! After all these years I now have a PT. Bought our 2005 Base Model over the weekend. Want to dress up the look with some wheel covers and Port-a-walls from Mooneyes. Thinking about Starfire Waffleback Fiesta. Has anyone had any trouble with the brakes getting too hot while running after market wheel covers? The PT is my daily driver, which lets the '65 Beetle retire to weekend status. Thanks, Jeff ----------

Jeff, I run full Moon style covers w/ no overheating. Be advised that Port-a-walls will not work w/ radial tires. So don't waste your money on them. If you want white walls, you'll have to buy white wall tires. Check out TireRack.com. ---------- Drive Safe & Enjoy the Ride. J. W. Thanks for the information. Will definately pass on the port-a-walls. Back to Mooneyes this weekend. Once again, thank you. Jeff ----------

Ditto on the wheel covers. I too, had full moon covers before I got my smoothies. Never had a lick of trouble. You may want to take them off and clean the back of them tho. They really collect brake dust bad. Or switch to ceramic brakes and you won't have that trouble. Oh, yeah... Welcome to the club! You're gonna love it here. Everyone's great. Later, Ray ----------

Nice looking PT, Ray. Yours is the look we are after. Kids, another project car, etc... will keep us with the Moon Covers for a while. Going to Mooneyes in the morning. Thanks for the info, Jeff. ----------

I saw the waffle covers, and did a mockup in photochop. Look very interesting, and I don't think youll be disappointed. In my, case, I've been wanting wire wheels since I've bought my PT, but couldnt afford them. Found a great cheap set of "wire spoke" wheel covers that fit and look great instead. So I quit on the waffle idea. Try em out. Unless they aren't a reputable place, you should be able to get them long enough to dry run them, and send them back if you dont like them. Most you might be out is shipping. ----------
