Air Conditioning not blowing cold.... Can't Post

Hey there Ya'll....

It has been awhile since I have been around! But I am back and I have a question....

A few days ago it got humid enough here for me to turn on the AC in my 01 LE PT. But when I turned it on it was blowing out really good but the air isn't cold. It is the same temp as the outside air. I let it run for about a half hour thinking it might just need some time but no change. I am thinking I need a recharge but I am not sure.

Is this something that might be common because it is an 01?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless.

Check the compressor with the AC on. The compressor clutch should be engaged, and the compressor turning. If it is not engaged the freon charge could be low. The compressor oil in the system circulates with the refrigerant. If the refrigerant is low the oil will not circulate and the compressor will be destroyed. There is a low pressure sensing switch that will shut the system down before damage can be done to the compressor. There is also a high pressure sensing switch. Unlike home AC, an automobile AC compressor is driven externally. The shaft seals are not perfect. After an undefined period the freon will seep through the seal. If you have completely lost the charge, you have a leak.
If the charge is low it may have normal seal seepage after seven years. Have the system checked out.
