Airaid vs K&N Intakes Can't Post

Is their an advantage of a K&N intake vs an Airaid, or vice versa, other than the Airaid seems to be a little less expensive? Are their other intakes I've not come upon yet that will work just as well but possibly cost less. Cost is not my number one priority but would be right behind quality and efficiency.

Also down the road I'd probably want to be able to add an air box to work with an after market hood with functional hood scoop.

K&N sucks in hot engine air and costs you some torque. Airaid pretty much seals off engine bay so is better.

Doesn't the Airaid system use the original bottom half of the OEM filter box plus the OEM intake hose while the K&N system uses a new intake tube?

I have my Airaid for 4 years now.. It was my first mod and would be again.. Didnt see much if any MPG improvement. It Sounds Great though... Looks pretty good also.

Re: [AUCRZR] Airaid vs K&N Intakes Can't Post

After I wrote my last comment I did a little more reading and think I understand it better now. When it starts warming up, I'll be getting one of the Airaid units. I'm no so much worried about getting better gas mileage although I would hope to see a little better throttle response, and oh yes the sound, I'll enjoy that as well Cool

Re: [garyerrol] Airaid vs K&N Intakes Can't Post

Well I have 2 PTs.BOTH 2003 non turbo automatics bought new. Both over 60,000 miles. One has no Airaid the other does. The one with the Airaid has been on for 55 thousand of those 60,000. Sharon and I both agree the one with the Airaid has better throttle response ( that will be debated on here or has been for sure that it makes no difference) She just doesnt like the noise and therefore her PT has no Airaid. She will not hesitate though to tell you mine has better TR. Both are identical in engine setup in every way but that. Again it was my 1st of MANY MANY mods and if I was starting over with a bone stock PT tomorrow it would be the 1st one again.

Re: [AUCRZR] Airaid vs K&N Intakes Can't Post

Hey All,
I too made the airaid intake my first mod and boy am I glad. It sounds awesome with the bassani dual exhaust. Mine only has 5900 miles and it has great response. I also changed plugs added a new coil and it seems to be running even better but I am not sure if is just me. LOL But the next thing I want to add is a performance chip I havde heard you can get a couple of more HP's to it. But I am still doing my research. Any thoughts?

take care

That's one problem I won't have. If I kept ming ten years, she'll probably not be in it more than 3 or 4 times, maybe not that many. She's a paraplegic and dependent on a chair. While we can probably get her in without to much trouble, her chair does not fold so trying to put it in the back, even the the rear seats folded forward will not be an easy task.

We have a Dodge Caravan Sport for when she needs to get out. The Cruiser is strictly my play thing.

CoolHi Gary. The air intake was my first mod also and I can attest to the fact that your pedal response will definately improve with it.The 01 had a very small air intake and resulted in a PT with a bad case of asthma and poor pedal response. It may be a source of debate over the years but I can say it worked for me....God Bless.......Mike

Re: [Cruiser RN] Airaid vs K&N Intakes Can't Post

Ok, I'm sold on the Airaid intake system and will be getting on when it warms up some. Now I see that Airaid also offers a spacer block that goes under the throttle body that is supposed to also improve throttle response and gas mileage. Anyone have any experience with one and if so, what do you think of them?

Re: [rpm inferno] Airaid vs K&N Intakes Can't Post

So after reading this I thought an intake would be an easy mody that had many benefits. After arguing with my dad about Airaid vs the K&N I finally decided on the Airaid because the K&N isn't street legal in Cali. Easy choice! But I can't see on Airaid's website that they have them for 06' turbos? I'm guessing its the same as the 05's because RPM Inferno has the new body style and the intake right?

Re: Airaid vs K&N Intakes Can't Post

How about the throttle body spacer. I note that Airaid has a special on getting one free if you purchase the the intake system by January 31st. Is the spacer of any benefit? How hard is it to install?

Re: [ThreeLAKE] Airaid vs K&N Intakes Can't Post

I have the AIRAID in the dreamer and the K&N drop in filter (OE replacement) in the wifes. Both offer improvements. The K&N was much cheaper and its quieter being inside the box. Its hard for us to compare the two otherwise because of the different transmissions.

Its just a matter of what you want.
