Another Boring North Coast PT Cruiser Weekly Report 10-08 Can't Post

It was Cold. It was Clear. It was in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. But mainly…it was Monday Evening – time for the North Coast PT Cruisers to get together for their World Record Setting 22nd Consecutive Weekly PT Cruise-In – and a few of them actually showed up. Some of them even wore their North Coast PT Cruiser regalia, including NCPTC ear muffs, NCPTC long johns, and one from (Pittsburgh) even wore her North Coast PT Cruiser Babushka !!

North Coast PT Cruiser Galoshes have been ordered and should be here shortly.

On a night that was really cold, most of the “regulars “ showed up. Our previous week newbie from South Amherst made another appearance, and 3 other newbies from nearby Solon made their initial foray into the wonderful world of PT Nuts.

Due to popular demand, we will place another order for T-Shirts as soon as we receive payment for a minimum order quantity of 50. The base price of the T-Shirts will be $15 each and proceeds from the sale will go to the American Red Cross. You can order the shirts at our Monday Cruise-Ins, or via email or US mail. Payment must be made with your order. You can send a check payable to:

Linda Dicker
POB 28

or make payment via paypal to: marvdicker@aol.com.

You can specify the color of the car. You will receive a shirt with a red car if no color is specified. Cost is as follows:

$15.00 - sizes Small, Medium, Large, or XL
$16.50 - size XXL
$18.00 - size XXXL
$19.50 - size XXXXL
$5.00 - Shipping via USPS Priority mail for up to 4 shirts (if desired)

Donna N gave a report on the Cleveland Plain Dealer tour. Twenty-two people showed up and had an enjoyable time touring the PD and learning of its modern approach to the newspaper business. The PD has saved over 50million dollars by simply reducing the size of the paper by a few inches in length and width, for example. On a personal note, Mrs. PT-MD and I were NOT pleased by the reduced size of the PD. The OLD paper user to fit PERFECTLY on the bottom of our bird cages…not so any more.

The Penn-Ohio Cruisin’ PT’s have invited us to join them at the Halloween Cruise-In on Friday Oct 12th at the A @ W Drive-In, 680 Boardman-Canfield Rd (St Route 224) 330 758-8901. The time is from 6pm - 10pm. People will be showing up much earlier than that probably 4-ish. There will be a DJ and lots of classic cars of all types and hopefully, a lot of PT's. For more info contact Joe or Betty at: OstrwB@aol.com.

Our next event is the Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Cruise on Sunday, October 14th. We will meet at the McDonalds at I-90 and Route 45 (exit 223) at 10:00 am. We will depart from there at 10:30and go to the Covered Bridge Festival at the Ashtabula Count Fairgrounds in Jefferson Ohio (near Routes 307 and 46). We have arranged for FREE admission to the fair for the first two occupants of each car. Additional riders will have t hide in the trunk or pay a $3 entrance fee.

We will have a munchies meet and greet at the fair until about 12:30 or so. Everyone will be given maps and instructions for the self-guided Covered Bridge Cruise. It will NOT be possible for all of us to leave at the same time and descend on the covered bridges due to the limited parking available at each bridge, so we will leave in small groups. Be aware that most of the covered bridges are on gravelly roads. For those of you who might not want to drive, there will be Van Tours leaving on the hour, every hour.

There will be FOOD and CRAFTS at the Fair and at most of the 11 covered bridges along the 66-mile route. It normally takes 2.5 hours to drive, but will probably take longer on this day. You can stay at the fair or at the bridges for as long as, or as little as you like. There is no way to judge the parking and driving time…so you kind of have to wing it.

We will meet again at 5:00 pm to have dinner together at the Clay Street Inn, located on at the corner of Clay Street and Route 45 – about 500 feet from the McDonalds where we first met.

On October 21st, we will have a private Fall Fun Fest from 1pm to 6pm at a sheltered, reserved pavilion at Veterans Park in Mentor. The Fabulous (HiYo) Silver, Man !! will be our DJ. Costumes are optional (not required). Bring a can of soup (not tomato, not creamy) for a soup pot, which will be running all afternoon. Bring your own dinner and something to share. Kids, GrandKids, Nieces, Nephews are all welcome. We will play games…and a there will be a real wood fire in the fireplace. Coffee and Hot Chocolate will be available gratis (free).

Our Season Finale Coats For Kids / Red Cross Benefit Cruise-In will be held from noon to 5pm. on Sunday, October 28th . This event is FREE and open to ALL Cars. Donations for Coats for Kids and the American Red Cross will be accepted. Once again, the Fabulous (HiYo) Silver, Man !! will be our Super DJ. He will be spinning OLDIES and promises to play one Country Western Song for Our Cowboy ( He knows who he is, right Dennis ?).

We will be meeting for dinner once a month beginning on the second Monday of every month, until our winter hibernation is over. Our first dinner meeting will be on November 12th at 7:00 pm at Buca Di Bepo’s a kitschy Italian Restaurant in the Golden Gate Shopping Center, very close to where our regular Monday Night Cruise-In’s take place. We will be served a buffet dinner….all you can eat. Price has yet to be determined, but should be about $15 per person. So far, 35 people have signed up.

We need a head count in order to determine how many people can be expected to attend. This looks like a BIGGIE….so please sign up or send me an email if you would like to attend. Our December Dinner Meeting will probably be at George’s Famous Dinner Bell Restaurant near Painesville (RT 84 and 44)

Some more stuff happened….but my CRS has kicked in….and I Can’t Remember Stuff. Meeting ended with a bunch going to Bob Evans for some dinner and/or coffee and pie.

See What You Are Missing? Don’t you wish you could “Hang With The North Coast PT Cruiser Gang” ?
