Another loss in the community. Can't Post

It is with great sadness that I must tell everybody that we have lost another member of the PT Cruiser community and a dear friend. Pat "Ivy" VanGaasbeek passed away at her home on Monday, September 17, 2008. I know that she will be missed by many. No other details are available at this time.

She was always a fun lady to be around, and she will be missed. My prayers are with the family.

FrownThis is terrible news. I met Pat in Bartlesville last summer. At that time I was interested in the Topeka, Kansas group as it was the closest club to my Nebraska town. It was still a four hour drive for me and when I was talking ( for the first time ) to Pat, she graciously invited me to come stay in her home. What a kind, wonderful lady. All my sympathies to the Kansas crowd. Mickey

I thought I would share this message that I got from the Topeka group concerning Pat. It gave me a lot to think about. Mickey

Mary,

Thanks for sharing your kind words and those of others. I'm thinking
she didn't want us to know about her deteriorating health.

The following poem speaks volumes about our dear PAT and life. I know
I have learned a lot from her these past six years and am ever
thankful for her encouraging words and the friendship we had.

I'M GLAD YOU'RE IN MY DASH

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone,
From the beginning...to the end.

He noted that first came her date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.

(1930 - 2008)

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth...
And now only those who loved her,
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars (with the exception of the PT Cruiser)
...the house...the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real,
And always try to understand
The way other people feel

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile.
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy's being read
With your life's actions to rehash...
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

FrownMy heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to the family and friends. It is so hard to lose a member of the PT family, whether they are near or far.
