Bought mine new. It's a 5 speed, but I wish it were automatic. Sounded like a good idea at the time, but I would rather have had an automatic. I have only been a member for a couple of weeks, so have not attended any events. Joined more out of curiosity than anything else.

Way to go!!! You will have to be sure & look up PT Cruiser events in your area, I am sure there are some in Fl. I recall the very first one I attended, I thought "Damn these are some pretty "Kooky" people...Now I go to the events & want to do the same "Kooky" things!!Smile Love the "Mod" stuff, do you have a "PT Cruiser" magazine? If you don't go to www.cruiserbits.com they will send ya a magazine for free. There alot of sites with "Cruiser" stuff too! Now Glenn who has DCS#3 too has chose to keep his pure stock original & has won many trophies at different events. Anyway, you'll meet alot of helpful folks online, then one day you'll be at an event & meet them in person....That is really way Kewl! Welcome!!1Cheers

I think DCS3 are the rarest of the DC. I have only seen one in real life
Seen maybe a total of 5 DCS2, one pulled over on I-94 Frown
Quite a few DCS1 around here (Milwaukee), only a couple DCS4's.
As the series increased, the price went up faster, hence the fewer willing to shell out extra to be "different".

But isn't it a hoot to be different!?

I'm here. #392 chiming in. I'm lucky(sort of) I had 2 of them, although the first one was Lemon Lawed. I have seen a few DCS3's that on closer inspection were base or Touring with 2tone paint. I love the 5 speed. Most 5 speed guys got a really good deal cause these are the ones that ended up sitting around the dealer long after the Autosticks were long gone. Mine had sat around almost 2 years at the dealer. And talk about sticker shock. Here in Canada with our weaker dollar, list price for a 5speed was around 37K and add 1200 for autostick. That price is right there with 3 series BMW's. Or VW 337, Audi A3 etc. Its easy to see how they were hard to sell.

(Quote: I'm Here # 392 chiming in.)That is some "hot" news! What kind of PT did yo have that was "lemoned"? I can't believe after that experience that you still bought another one! So you bought this DCS3 2 yrs old? How has it been? I had seen my DC#3 at the lot for 5 months then I drove it & that was it! I conteplated buying a blck 3000M, it was the same price, but for some reason this certain design stole my heart! Now I am interested in the new 2007 Tangerine Orange Vert...Who knows. But evry single time I start getting these thoughts someone in the public will completment my PT, then I end up keepin it. I need to be like PT Dave who has 2Wink all for himself.WinkBy the way trctorfix didn't I see an e-mail re: the reply from DC about the sequenced DCS#3? That was horrible! But anyway you look at it there are approx. < 2000 of them created in the whole world, & not all will live, so some day they may become valueable. Another PT Friend who has a DCS#3 has kept his totally stocked, original that is & has advised me that whatever I do keep all the original parts for the future. I am always curious just how many of these DCS#3 there are, thanks for replyingWave

Re: [Dream3] Any Dream 3 Owners out there? Can't Post

Dream3, the Lemon Lawed PT was a a Series 3 Dream Cruiser. It was #384. The car wasn't the problem. The problem was an incompetent, beligerant dealership service department and a manufacturer with a history of appauling customer service. They let a simple problem that any driveline mechanic(me) could easily diagnose become an epic pi$$ing match that they had no chance of winning.

Once I won the case and had the check in hand, I could not find any thing that I liked. The closest thing I could get into was the Audi A3. There were just no deals on them. I knew the Dodge store a few hours from home still had a 04 Dream3 sitting around that they couldn't sell. I showed up unannounced to check it out. In the end they bent over backwards to help a deal happen. Instead of almost Canadian37K, I got it for 25,300 including a new battery(just because), 4 new tires(flat spotted), hood guard, rear bumper guard, slush mats, wheel locks, locking gas cap, and a can of PT Cruiser Root Beer which was left over from the Original PT launch. I actually got a better deal on the second one.

The car has been perfect and I have finally installed some of the touches/mods that I could never do to the first one because I knew it was going back. Check my sig for details

There are tons like this around. I found a dealer near me that still had a NEW 1999 300M. I also found an 01 Dakota, 01 Neon, all brand new. Deals are out there.

Hey Tractorfix mine was a year old when I bought it and the sticker was $29400 U.S. When I was done it cost less than my 01 Limitted Ed. and 03 GT, made me feel better after paying to much for them!

DC Series 3 checking in here too. Mine is a 5-speed too, #1154. Drive it everyday, got 27k miles on the clock and I'm running new rims with Bridgestone Blizzaks for the winter.

Bought mine in Feb. 2005, paid $21,500 for it. It was inside the dealer showroom, went there looking at Jeeps, but was attracted to the looks, options, price, and then after test-driving it, the performance. Been tweaking it ever since, of course only doing things that would be easy to change back over to stock if I wanted to.

There is another DC3 here local where I live, see it every morning, but his is auto.

I Luv the autotranny there has been a few times I have had her on the HWY & slipped it down to the auto manual, slippin' the gears & pretended I'm in the Indy 500! Ha! One time I got up to 120 mph pretty fast. Luv It!! That is too funny 'bout your hubby & his turbo diesel, what is it? Has he done any mods? I bet he'd help ya'! Yes the last 4 #'s are the # of your car made, I see you got a pretty early model, that's way 2 Kewl! I don't know if Gary's friend is still making those Lil' silver plaques, but when I first got mine I ordered one that say's "Dream Cruiser 1276 of 1309" It's might pretty! I'll see if I can find the info & send it to yaWave Have fun! ~

That's 2 funny...My hubby has 3500 Dodge RAM, he never keeps it as clean as mine & yes I am always buying sumpin' 4 mine! I just got off of Ebay & bought some Euro Break Lights (d/t someone ramming into my bumper yest) Some Blue 10.2 Wires w/ NGK Iridium Plugs & a pretty shiny Lil' Oil acp that states Mobile1 5W30. One time I took my car into the dealership I always get my oil changed at & they accidently put Plain ol' oil, they changed it all 4 free the next daySmile . Are you going to make it up to the Show & Shine this Sat in Owasso? If ya' do , Have great time! Take some pics & share. I know have to stay here & get my bumper fixed, I go to another place tomorrow after work for an estimation..Geeze, Thank God 4 Insurance!!!Hat

I was just checking the local Auto Trader listings and noticed a 2001 Limited Ed. which seems to have the same dark blue/silver two-tone color scheme as the DCS3.
Was that two tone paint offered in 2001??
