Anyone Have a Pacific Coast Highway Edition?

I am relatively new to the PC Cruiser world, so pardon me if I've posted in the wrong folder. From what I've been told, the Pacific Coast Highway Edition is part of the Dream Cruiser/Street Cruiser group. Anyway -- my question is -- does anybody here have a PCH Edition? I have never seen any other than ours, which we purchased in July. Would be interested in any information anybody can give me about the PCH, such as how many were made, how I can figure out what number mine is, etc. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me. I have spent copious amounts of time scouring the internet for anything I can find out on our new baby (that's how I found this website). Linda ----------

Hi Linda. I haven't heard any actual stats about the number of PCH Street Cruisers made, but I did hear around 1000 of the previous edition (Route 66) cruisers were produced, so the number of PCH's probably isn't far from that mark. ----------

I have a PCH - bought it in November 2006. I have no idea how many were produced. I love mine. It is loaded with all the options. Right now I am having some problems though - the check engine light keeps coming on and it is throwing the P0456 code. This usually means the fuel cap hasn't been tightened - that might have caused the first (although I don't think so because I've really careful about that) light but it has now happened three times in the last month. Each time I fill the car up, I drive it until there is just above a half tank and the light comes on. The second time the dealer did a smoke test and couldn't find a leak so they reset the code but refused to replace the gas cap. They are still convinced it is something I am doing - this was last Monday and I told them as I was leaving that I would be filling the car up later that day and soon as it got down to just above a half tank, that light would go back on and I would be back. I also tried to get the service writer to bet his paycheck against mine, but he wouldn't do it. Sure enough, it came on yesterday just as the tank reached the same level as the previous two times. It's going back in tomorrow. Sorry to rant - I really do like this car. It's my third PT (had DC1 and GT vert) and the only problem I've ever had with any of them. I'm sure it's nothing serious but it's annoying and not a comfortable feeling driving with that light on. Please share any info you get about production numbers. I think you can email Chrsyler and they will tell you. ----------

You're the first person I've seen with another PCH, never even seen one on the freeways around here. Ours is loaded with options too. We were lucky, they were displaying Petey at a PT Cruiser car show, and the price was marked down to what one would normally pay for the basic model. We could hardly contain ourselves. Are you going to Return to the Beach 8 in Myrtle Beach this month? We can't wait. Linda ----------

I think I will try to e-mail Chrysler about the number made. Someone told me that the last four digits of the VIN are what your number is, but according to my VIN number, that means Chrysler made over 5,000 PCH's, and that just doesn't sound right compared to the number made of the other Street Series/Dream Cruisers. I'll let you know what I find out. I haven't been able to find out anything via the internet so far. Linda ----------

I am now. I just registered and made a reservation at the Red Roof Inn. This will be my first east coast show. I lived in CA until last year and went to several shows there and one in Arizona. ----------

That's really strange. They have given production numbers in every other instance that I know of - including the Route 66. ----------

I thought it was strange too. I know someone who e-mailed Chrysler and found out that stats for his Route 66 -- how many made -- and which number his was. Linda ----------

Hey PeteyPCH - you are probably at Mrytle Beach right now. I am not going to make it after all. My baby is in the shop getting the gas tank replaced - it seems there is some part inside it that was causing the check engine light to come on at half a tank. According to the dealer, Chrysler says they have only seen this particular problem three times and in two of those cases it was this part inside the tank - lucky me. They didn't say if it was specific to PT Cruisers or any of their cars. My problem didn't start until after 10,000 miles. Hope you enjoy Mrytle Beach! Let me know if you see any other PCHs there. ----------

Sorry you couldn't make it, we had been looking for you in the parking lot. Every one in our group was there when I was telling my DH about your mechanical problems (I had my laptop with me, so was able to read your post). They all offered their sympathy to you as well. There was one other PCH there, a woman from South Carolina. We had a fantastic time. Gotta start unpacking, so I'll talk to you later. Linda ----------

I'm not PeteyPCH, but it was my car that had the problem. Yes, it did have a code - P0456 which means a small evap leak but we eliminated the usual causes (loose gas cap) and ran multiple smoke and vacuum tests and never detected a leak. Chrysler was contacted and they recommended replacing the tank. Too early to tell if it worked - I will reach the half-way point on the tank this weekend and that's when the light used to come on. I have my fingers crossed. ----------

I think these models are built one way out of the box and not optioned or optionless so to speak, so I think any PCH has the same options as another PCH. ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.
