I had the E&G's and my wife told me not to put them on because they looked cheap as I was ready to stick them down. JUST HER OPINION and I think she was right as they may have kind of looked stuck on as an after thought on my Cranberry IMHO. Traded off for the SS sill plates. I'm NOT trying to offend those that have them WE may just have poor taste! May look better to me on a lighter colored car? No offense meant !

I have a set of the stainless B post covers. They were purchased from PT warehouse. But after installing some weather tech ventvisors, and Moon lakepipes, I've decided not to use them. I will take them with me to cruise events, and hope to sell them. As far as them looking good, yes they do. I just don't want to over do it.

Here I am!! I got mine from Wycoff and had to wait about 3 weeks cause they were backordered. Well I got them stuck on real good and they were kinda hard to line up. They looked (to my eye) like they were just kind of floating on the surface, like they didn't belong and they were breaking the flow of the window line; and in the end it really was just too overdone with all that polished stainless steel in my face. Also, with the stainless steel I could see fine vertical lines on the finish....to ME it looked tacky. So yesterday I got my hairdryer, fishing line, and WD40 (thanks Blondie!) and went to work removing them! What a b*tch! They will come off if you use enough patience, heat, elbow grease, and WD40! So now I am going to order some chrome quarter round from Auto-Tech Plastics to trim around the windows! ------------------ http://members3.clubphoto.com/pamela264308/CROOZA_Accessories/ Order 10/23-Carmax/Norcross D-12/8/00-VIN# D1-1/3/01 On the CSXT 2/6/01 Home to Momma! 2/10/01 Cranberry 28G w/CD,painted wheels, underseat drawer

I had been thinking of adding them to Opie. But I saw 6 cars with the added post covers... 3 different styles... and none seemed to add anything to the lines or the look of the PT.Glad I saw them first... or I would be in the same boat as Jazzed!! Thanx!! rePete

I know this is an OLD thread, but I'm reviving it because I have the same question: does anyone have the stainless pillar covers and like them? I've been looking through pictures of people's modified PTs and the stainless pillar covers don't seem to be a popular mod. I bought a set myself ("Revelations" brand) on impulse, and now I can't make up my mind if I really want to install them or not. Shiny metal objects are cool, but the stock tinted window/black pillar look does have a certain appealing sleekness to it. And I've read some complaints about discoloration; the instructions that come with the covers emphasize that you must keep them clean and waxed or they will discolor. They also warn against the damaging effects of road salt. I don't mind a little cleaning and waxing in the summer, but the hell if I'm gonna do it in the middle of winter when it's 0 degrees and windy outside. I'm just trying to decide if I should go for it and slap 'em on, or try to sell them and recoup some of the expense.

Hi Dave- Chrysler's stylists blacked out the posts to de-emphasize the size, shape and number of windows. This is an often-used trick of the trade. The large "mask" area decreases the visual impact of interruptions in the flow of the overall shape. Incidentally, this is the same reason the outside mirrors are not painted body color - the dark mirrors blend into the surrounding mask area, making them less conspicuous. I know I'll get flamed for this, because a lot of people like any type of "bling", but you asked. The fact is, Chrysler spent $300 million (yes, $300 million!) developing the PT, and they did a pretty good job. A considerable part of that development cost involved hiring trained and accomplished stylists, comprehensive design reviews, focus groups, comparative surveys, etc. It's unlikely that the craftsman producing some formed stainless pieces would spend much time on any of that. Bottom line, it's your car and you should do what you like, regardless of what anyone else says. Just because a product is available doesn't mean you should buy it, lol. ----------

Indeed. But I do believe the late '40s-inspired styling seems to beg for some chrome--particularly on the bumpers and the "running board" area--but it is possible to go too far. That's why I'm apprehensive about slapping it on the pillars; I don't want it to look cheap 'n gaudy like some teenager's rice burner.

Of course... I was just wondering if anyone would definitely recommend against the stainless trim because they've had problems with it, e.g., discoloration despite reasonable maintenance, or delamination, warping, pitting, etc.

For sure... The post covers were an impulse purchase and I wish I had given myself more time to think about it. However, I don't regret buying the side moldings or bumper trim (not yet, anyway) because I really feel those areas would benefit from some tasteful chrome accents. ---------- 2007 Limited, Auto, 2.4L NA

I've gotta admit, they DO look great on your car! My car is silver, though, so it might be too much "brightwork" going on if I use them. I'll just put them to the side for now and see how the car looks once I've installed the bumper trim and side moldings. ---------- 2007 Limited, Auto, 2.4L NA
