Hello, this is my first post. I bought a 2005 PT about 7 months ago, now that it cold outside my auto door locks are locking all buy themselves. It's not getting a signal from the remote as the horn doesn't chirp. I thought it was the auto lock so I disabled per manual. It still keeps locking itself, even while driving slow. Any ideas, what else to check? Thank You in advance. ----------

Sorry I guess I didn't explain quite right. The doors are locking or trying to lock all the time. Even when the car is shut off or stopped at a red light. They keep trying to lock and sometimes I hear a whirring noise in the back. ----------

Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. Sounds like the computer is confused and needs a reboot. ----------

Quote: Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. Sounds like the computer is confused and needs a reboot. If that doesn't work is the car still under warranty? If it is then let them worry about it. If it isn't take your car to an independent shop and not the dealer. We just had a couple of leaking trans cooler hoses fixed. The dealer wanted $300 and the tranny shop wanted $100. Guess where we went? ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto

Earp60, I see you live in a cold climate. Have you just had rain or freezing rain followed by a well below freezing cold spell? We had the same problem a couple of years ago on New Year's Eve/Day. Water got into either one of the door key cylinder switches or the hatch key cylinder switch and shorted out the contacts in there that lock and unlock the doors if you use the key instead of the key fob remote. It stopped after it warmed up and the sun dried things out. The dealer did replace all of the key cylinder switches under warranty and the problem has not reoccured. ---------- John & Terry "His"-2002 Inferno Red Touring Edition "Hers"-2003 Electric Blue Limited Edition

Sounds like you got some good advice. My car started auto locking when I opened the rear hatch after the body shop spent hours wet sanding the new clear coat. After everything dried out I have had zero problems, so I vote for moisture in the switch. Good luck and enjoy your ride. ----------

There was a TSB that came out mentioning that there is a fuse under the hood for when the car is in shipping to keep the battery from going dead. If this fuse is loose, it can effect the wireless reciever. Since the reciever controls the locks, it could cause what you are experiencing. Just an idea. If you are a paying member, go to the TSB area of the forums and it should be one of the more recent ones. -Ray ----------

Thanks Ray, My car battery was disconnected for a long period of time at the body shop and everything may have discharged. Since I have been running it there has been no re-occurrence of the issue. I will folow up at the tech site for future reference. ----------

Hi TPs CRUISER As a matter of fact I had the car out in quite a raid storm, then put in the not heated garage and it went down to -12. So I lubed both locks and worked the key a little. After going out on a couple errands the locks seemed fine. Thank For the information. ----------

You're welcome! Hopefully the lube will keep the moisture out and you'll have no more problems with the locks. ---------- John & Terry "His"-2002 Inferno Red Touring Edition "Hers"-2003 Electric Blue Limited Edition
