www.autolite.com says the XP5263 is for both NA and Turbo? i was planning to replace my Denso IX Iridium spark plugs with the Autolites ( these are the only ones they had on stock ).. putting them side by side.. i can see that the Denso core nose was longer than the Autolite... ( making the autolite a colder plug?) the numbers stamped looked like an 18 on the Autolite versus 13 on the Denso... so.... i regapped my IX's back to .40 and put them back. and the autolites are going back to Advance Auto parts.
found something weird thing though... i know i gapped these IX's to .40 when i initially installed them... about 6000 miles ago...when i pulled them out.. they were out of spec. .52 average. although there was no corrosion on the iridium tip.. was kinda weird that it had a huge gap change after only 6000 miles. unless the ground electrode is moving away from the tip.. any ideas? ---------- 2004 GT Stage 1, Mopar BOV

Yes, the Autolite is a colder plug. It doesn't protrude as far into the combustion chamber. Better for turbo & supercharged cars. You Denso's are acting quite normally having a gap increase after 6000 miles. It does also depend on how you're driving your car. The gap increase is caused by boost pressure. From all I've ever read about plugs, forced induction just means you'll be regapping more often than N/A. There's a big thread on these forums regarding plugs and such. I am surprised that you're gapping them at .40 instead of .35-.38. I've even read some who gap their GT's as tight as .28 though I doubt I'll ever gap that small. Interestingly enough, most 60's-70's musclecars running high compression engines had a typical plug gap of .35, and that was using a dual-point distributor and ignition setup. What's old is new again. Regards! ---------- Intense Blue Pearl... Yeah, Baby! 2003 GT - 5 Speed Getrag - Factory Loaded W/Ghost Flames, Borla Cat Back Dual Exhaust. "I Suck At Electric".
