Breakin driving (the first 300 miles) Can't Post

I would like a more detailed explanation of the why and how of driving the 1st 300 miles. The manual has only 2-3 sentences that are confusing. How "brief" is brief when pushing the pedal all the way while cruising and causing the RPM to approach 5000 and the transmission to downshift to 2nd? If this is okay, why is it not okay to generate the same high rpm's before getting up to "cruising" speed. How many times in the first 300 miles should I floor the pedal? After 60 miles am I supposed to drive as much as possible at 50-55? That's what the salesman said. But the book implies that 50-55 is just the maximum, not the preferred speed. The service manager had no better answers than the salesman. Also, is there any value in extending the breakin procedure beyond 300 miles? If a reader doesn't want to post a reply here, could he/she send E-mail to me at hopkins@netrax.net.
