Broken Lower Motor Mount Passenger side Can't Post

I have a 2006 PT cruiser and the lower motor mount on the passenger side broke and the dealer will not cover it under warranty because it has an impression on the arm like it hit something. Has anybody else had this problem?

If your dealer is saying something hit it, wouldn't that be covered by your car insurance policy. Just like if a big rock broke your windshield. You might have to pay a deductible but that would still be better possibly paying the whole bill (depending on what your deductible is).

And just how do you hit and break a moter mount. Not from the top side, and are they saying that the area on the frame or the moter is broken? WoW, it must have really been hit hard and how do you do that??. Give Me a Break.

I agree with you in principle but if the dealer says it was damaged because it was hit by something than I would think his insurance policy, if he has the coverage, should cover it. Now the insurance company might come back and say their is no way that could have been broken that way the dealer says it is.

It might also be that the dealer is throwing that line out their because they don't what to have to fix it under warranty. Maybe trying to claim it on insurance would call their bluff. It's just a thought/comment!

Roll eyes no problem man. Just go on eBay and buy a set of used SRT-4 neon mounts or go to a junk yard and get a set off of any neon since they are the exact same and you could put the mount on about 45mins in the driveway. way easy.

I would give Chrysler a call and explain the situation. We had a battery blow up on us and the dealer did not want to replace it or fix the damage battery cable so we called Chrysler and they called the dealer. The following week the dealer called and told us that they would honor the warranty. When we got there the manager said sorry about the confusion and that we really didnt need to report it to Chrysler....HA

Good luck
Its worth the effort.

Welcome El Paso Cruiser!
In the 8 years I've been involved with the PT Cruiser phenomenon, I've never heard of motor mounts on either side breaking, without being involved in some sort of "incident".
I live up the road from you, 3 hours, and am interested which dealer gave you that diagnosis? There are several other PT enthusiasts in your area, and the dealers are an issue down there....much like they are in SE New Mexico.

You might get a second opinion on that motor mount and the question about warranty coverage. Some dealers are no different than some $$ hungry doctors....their agenda is making money.ROFL

Good luck and keep this updated for us...it might help someone else.Hat

Re: [im4cruisn] Broken Lower Motor Mount Passenger side Can't Post

And there's a chance that they will charge you for the job and THEN charge Chrysler to be paid for a job under warranty...

Short story:

A friend of mine received a letter from GM one day...The letter was saying something like "As we can see in our records, we know that your MOTOR have recently been changed under warranty and we want to know your satisfaction level about how this issue was resolved...bla bla bla"

The problem is: my friend never ever has his motor changed!

So the dealer did the job for something else, a good customer/friend with a car not under warranty anymore and then used my friend's car to claim the job ($$$) to Chrysler.

So my friend called Chrysler about this.

You know what the dealer said to him after that? "c'mon! you didn't had to call Chrysler about this! Now I'm in trouble 'cause of you!"

Hi Elpaso,
My one was replaced about 2 weeks ago, { Drivers side } , {think about it,}, same as yours, cost about $250 & took them 20 minutes,
{take your wheel off} & its very simple to replace.

Sounds like the bottom one on the passenger side. Speaking of soft you wouldn't believe how flimsy the rubber is in the motor mounts (torque stuts).

I guess I'm gettin' old or something.Mad

All this started striking a cord with me, and I finally remembered a conversation I had last year, with Captain in Westminster, CA. He has come up with an improved motor mount, because of the low caliber OEM ones that tend to get hard and wear out.

I'm no mechanic and can't give you details, but Captain at Fair JACC Performance can tell you more about them. He's been replacing the OEM ones with them.

There are a bunch of choices for motor mounts for the PT. Anything that the SRT4(neon) uses we can use.

I have a set of filled mounts in my GT and my other one has inserts..
