Burgeoning family = DANGER Can't Post

Ok, my nilla vert is our 2nd car and my wife and our two kids are in love with it. However this 3rd kid came along a few weeks ago...I think the stork dropped this beauty off one night...I dunno. Anyway We have a mini-van and can fit more than enough into that...but we are thinking of exploring other choices to fit all 3 kids in the back...does the PT coupe allow for 3 person seating in the rear? From my memory of test driving some yeara ago it was no..boo hoo.Frown

Congratulations! Smile

That depends on the size of the preexisting kids.
  • If all three need baby and/or booster seats, forget about it...
  • If only two need kid seats, and the third is not very big, it might be OK for short distances.
  • If only the new one needs the baby seat and the other too are not big kids, you'll be OK.

Though a bit cramped, when my parents visit the two of them and our four year old in her car seat fit back there for getting around town.

We have both the '05 DC4 Convertible and my wife's '05 sedan, both have the same amount of seating width, but the convertible has more leg room for the rear passengers, when it is "In-Law week end", my wife, her sister and 12 year old son all ride the rear of the while Mom in-law rides up front with me, and her wheel chair in the trunk. Same for the sedan, both work for us. You will have more cargo space with the sedan, but the seating room is pretty much the same as the convertible you already have.Smile

It's all about those pesky baby seats Wink.

They're take a lot of space and waste a lot of space. A person sitting in the back seat can sit flushed against the door, but when you put a car seat in there is space wasted between the seat and the door.

Also, for the same car seat width issue, I don't think you can strap three car seats in the back while three adults can fit.

@ will be in boosters one in a baby seat. BUT the need is for a 3rd seat belt, does that exist...not worried about being cramped...without a seat belt it wont matter

Third seatbelt: Check. Cool

Complete with shoulder belt, which is built into the seat back. Smile

The only problem I can see is that the convertible only has seat belts for two in the back. You'd have to do something about that...

Re: [rsobhian] Burgeoning family = DANGER Can't Post

That is what I wanted to hear, possibility is for us to nix the vert and go for a coupe instead. I will target two of the "series" GT's I would like the tangerine dream or the silver/blue two toned GT special edition. We shall see as I luv the drop top so much ! But 3 kids will not fit. :-( the two fit great though.

Cool
So now that you have decided, how about a trip to Disney World for you and the family?

And then you can drive back home... Wink

(I'd guess just you'd be flyin' solo on the ride back home though ROFL)

That would be a great idea, we did Disney already though.
Always had my eye on that Tangerine Dream GT. And the silver street series. Anyone know or see of any in the NY NJ area let me know. And if anyone in the area is thinking of doind a possible trade from coupe to convertible also let me know!Tongue

Re: [mikemcl] Burgeoning family = DANGER Can't Post

Good idea, the convertible has a lot of rear leg room, but I don't think the seats are as wide as the regular hard top. The top and the mechanism on the sides seems to narrow the rear seating area. This is probably why Chrysler only installed two seat belts back there to begin with. Looking back there (installing lighting module for trailer lights today...) it doesn't look likely that you will get a third set of seat belts back there, even with an aftermarket kit. Hey, how about a sedan with a sunroof! Wink

Re: [PTPenguin] Burgeoning family = DANGER Can't Post

I found an 04 dream series silver/blue twp tone GT with a 5spd. Low miles and we could fit the 3 kiddies in it. And it has a sunroof. I love the vert though. I am trying to do a deal with the dealer since I am financing via Chrysler...not sure what I can do as my PT may be worth a bit more than this GT.

Sounds great! Two tone should be cool! I know what you mean though, I'd sure miss my vert if I had to give it up! I guess that means I can only have one more kid, huh! Wink
