Car Cover .... but only for the top.

HI, Need a little help here. I just got my PT convertible on May 1st. Unfortunately, I will not be able to afford to build a garage until next year. (Some may say I am doing this in the wrong order! ) Anyway, does anybody know a company selling top covers for the Cruiser Convertible yet? Or am I jumping the gun? I don't want a complete car cover, just one to fit the top/windows. That aside, I'd like to say that I've already put 1500 miles on my baby, and am totally in love with it!! Went on a loop around the Washington State peninsula, then east of the Cascades to a little town called Wintrop... beautiful! I can't drive anywhere without guys asking about it, or girls waving at me! Where was this car when I was single?! Right now I'm waiting on my personalized plates. I'm a big Sinatra fan, so I got 2THMOON as in fly me... It also works for "to the moon, Alice!" which is fine as well. ----------

Sounds like your new baby is in good hands. 2thmoom is a GREAT PLATE!!! This car feels like it is flying you to the moon. I drove a Convertible GT. It was the most awesome feeling. It shut down everything on the road. Winthrop is the greatest little town. You should be there when they are having one of their street festivals. I'll bet if you find someone that does custom upholstery, he would make you a cover just for the top. do you want a cover like the old convertibles where they cover the car when the top is down?? OR do you want a cover for the top when it is up?? Happy Cruisin'. Cruise to Harrington some day. We will BBQ steaks for you and the family. Dianne & SUNSPOT ----------

Hi Sunspot! Good idea about the upholstery shop... we even have one here on the island. I want it for when the top is up as I have a lot of madrona & fir trees around here that are always dropping leaves, pitch, needles, etc... I think I'll drop by today & get a quote. ( Any excuse to drive ) Also, I may just take you up on the BBQ someday, my wife would love to, but I have to figure out how cart my dog around, first! He's still a puppy and is into chewing things. I'm sure he'll grow out of it in the next few months. I hope so, anyway as I want the whole family to be able to cruise soon! ( Boxer/Rottweiler mix @88 lbs! ).

If you're going to build a garage for it in a year anyway, why not just get one of those inexpensive plastic tarps from Brown's Home Center? A custom cover is going to cost and will get messed up by the trees too. There are at least two of us on the islands so far. See you on the ferry some time. (That's Dylan, a 51 pound standard poodle driving by the way.) ----------

Hi ckgrick! Wow! I guess I can no longer say I've got the only PT Convertible in the county! I will have to be satisfied with saying "the island" now. Yes, the custom top idea was a little pricey, but I decided to go a different route... carport now, turn it into a garage later! Looking forward to that ferry meeting! ----------

A "****pit cover" is finally available, from Performance Plus in Toronto, Canada. Price is $80.00 Canadian (about 5 bucks American, I think). The URL is: http://www.perfrmplus.com/...=50&prodtype=396 Worth having even if you do build a carport - has to improve roof longevity and can't hurt the Smart Glass (tm) freezing problem. I'm going to get one as soon as I can. ---------- Be Well, Steve
