Cheap dress-up for 16" wheels?
|
Can't Post
|
|
My '07 LE came with the ugly painted alloy wheels. I would like to dress them up somehow, but can't afford new wheels. Any suggestions? I've Googled around, but haven't found any bolt-on solutions yet. That was the nice thing about the old plain steel wheels: you could just order a set of baby moons from JC Whitney and be done with it

I wonder 2 things: will a cheap 16" chrome wheel cover fit your wheel?? AND: I have heard about folks having their wheels powder coated in a unique color?? ----------

Hi Dave.Check out www.summitracing.com They have some cool rims to fit your budget. Then when you find a set to your liking you can post the old ones in the trading parts forum because what is ugly to one person may be beauty to another.Another way to go may be to get regular steel rims and cover them with moon hubcaps from www.hubcapmike.com .Ginny has her hubcaps on close to three years and they still look great.Hope I helped.God Bless.........Mike ---------- Mike Casabianca His: 2001 Black LE with Auto Transmission, BullDog Signs Flames, WeatherTec wind deflectors, cargo area mat, PT trash can, PT valve stem caps and Dart's coldair intake, chrome tail and headlight bezels, chrome bumper inserts, chrome license plate pillow, chrome fender trim, 1940's retro chrome on front and back fenders, door spears, chrome hatch door trim, chrome gas door, brushed chrome door sills, billet door pins, custom "BlueHaze" dash mat, MRK Group lugnut covers, dome light trim, etc. and the chrome goes on...... PB, a snap-on wheel cover would be perfect, but I don't think they'd work with this style of wheel--although it would be nice if I were wrong about that! See below: http://www.chrysler.com/...s/limited/index.html Mine is the 16-inch painted aluminum.

I feel your pain, I hate the stock silver coated 16" wheels that came with my touring turbo...all the wheels for this year were so much nicer...I will change once my tires wear out to a diif wheel ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

At this point, I'd be happy if the front wheels would stay clean. It's been three weeks since I brought the car home and they're already covered in brake dust.

yup! have the same problem with wife's PTC. Haven't done first brake job yet to change to better pads. the only other fix would be to get a plate that goes between the wheel and the rotor--a brake dust shield. I have heard of them but haven't looked around to see if there are some just for PTC's. ---------- DC1 #1610--5-speed. Its got some stuff. '03 Inferno Red--Its getting some stuff too!

That's one nice thing about the smoothies, they are solid and don't have the problem with the brake dust that other rims have. ---------- 2005 Bright Silver Convertible, 5 speed with 8 ball knob, chrome door spears, chrome gas cap door, chrome antenna bezel, chrome grill kit, chrome rear bumper pillows, chrome bumper trim, stainless antenna with flames, stainless door panel trim, chrome smoothies with baby moons, 2" wide "gangster" white walls, chrome tail light trim, K&N air filter element in a modified airbox and an oogah horn. Hmmm, what have I forgotten???
