Chrome suggestions?

I've got a new (for me) '05 silver 'vert (black top)- great looking, blast to drive!! I've noticed in the club store some fun chrome additions- my favs (and fairly cheap) are in order: door handle scuff guards, chrome side spears, chrome beltline kit. My goal is to look sharp but not too flashy. Any opinions on those? Favorite 2 of the 3?? Thanks! This has been a good site for me to browse... ----------

Welcome pt-heine from Bristol, TN. Chrome is good... but I've never been a fan of the door handle scuff guards (just my opinion). I've been considering the chrome spears for my convertible (I had them on the 01). You might consider a chrome "shorty" antenna and bezel too! Becky

You can also try ptwarehouse.com.. Not only do they sell PT stuff but they are club members and they cruise with us.. Now if you want to get something different .I bought a spare fuel door and sent it out to be chrome plated. Looks very nice and there aren't many around if any. I had it done to my 01 and now the 06 Convertible. Not cheap ,but well worth it. ---------- big jim

We must have similar tastes! I have a silver '05 vert, and I've added the beltline kit, chrome fuel door, and the trunk lid scuff guard. I will be ordering the chrome side spears in about a week, then I'll be done chromin' the outside. The engine bay is next! Oh yeah, the chrome antenna base looks very nice. Don't bother with a shorty antenna, though. Just cut the stock antenna down to about 18". Looks a LOT nicer, and still picks up all stations as clear as before. Cool! I'd love to see it once you've got the spears on. In the opposite direction- I just saw a silver cruiser with a black bumper- took on more of a rugged look. I wasn't close enough to see if that was aftermarket. Any ideas? ...so, you're not doing the side scuff guards? Curious why not? thanks ----------

All older PT's had black bumpers. It was only recently (can a PT trivia buff tell us?) that they painted the bumpers to match the color of the car. I'm not sure what you mean by 'scuff guards'. I think I'm just about at the perfect balance (for me) for chrome. Just enough to be flashy, not too much to be tacky. ---------- "You can fool some of the people all of the time." ...and thanks to the presidential approval polls we even know the exact percentage.

Has anyone seen the chrome trim that goes around the top of the body on a convertible? I saw a place that has them in Europe but there kind of pricy and The waiting period to get them is awful.I'd reather deal with someone in the States or get an Original set chrome plated. ---------- big jim

I'd like to find out about this as well. I saw a vert with this trim and it really caught my eye. You can get the chrome convertible thing on ebay, but the guy wants over $300 for it. Sure does look nice though. I haven't seen it on any US PT Cruiser web sites. I have an "05" Inferno Red GT convertible with 4-1 lake pipes (not hooked up-illegal in CT!!), chrome beltline kit, chrome door handle protectors, chrome antenna ring, 59 caddy tail lights, chrome headlight and taillight surrounds and all sorts of chrome interior stuff. I like the idea about getting an original gas tank door chrome plated. To whomever posted that, how much did it cost to have it plated? I don't like the stick-on cover that is available for the convertible, but getting the original chromed sounds like a good idea, as long as I don't have to refi the house to do it.

I didn't post about getting one chromed, but you can just buy a replacement chrome door. I bought one and I love it. It looks like they just chromed original doors. The cable tang is even there! They cost $89 and you cag get one at http://www.cruisermotorsports.com/ChromeAccessories.html (Note: it is BELOW the cheaper door cover version.) ---------- "You can fool some of the people all of the time." ...and thanks to the presidential approval polls we even know the exact percentage.

Just got the ABS 3M version of the gas cap to place on my PT convert. Got it off of ebay for 23 bucks including shipping. I have not added anything to the exterior of my PT, but I saw a purple convert the other day with this gas cap cover and it looked great. There is no full replacement door cover for the convertible anywhere, just the stick on 3M item is around. I really want the real door with the CRUISER name engraved on it, but till they make one I will have to deal with the sticky one. Next I am on the fence about adding these port holes...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-02-03-04-05-CHRYSLER-PT-CRUISER-UNIV-PORT-HOLES_W0QQitemZ250004430800QQihZ015QQcategoryZ33654QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Then I am looking to get this http://newjersey.craigslist.org/pts/169279784.html dual exhaust, used and is a BTG! Point is there ar bargains out there so be wary, research and SAVE! ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

There isn't? Huh. Then what do I have on my convertible? Check the link and follow the instructions and you'll find one. Oh, I was wrong about the price. What the heck are you folks talking about. First you forgot to post the link to this elusive and fully attachable CHROMES gas cap door for the Pt convertible...the link posted in the next message above mine, links to the 3M stick on, and this person sent a stock door into a shop to be CHROMED, why wouldn't he had purchsed the one you speak of for a much cheaper price then>? Ooops! A big apology from me! I just visited the cruisermotorsports Web site again, and the chrome door for the convertible is no longer listed!
