Auburn Hills, Mich., May 08, 2003 -Mopar® Parts is the exclusive original equipment supplier of parts, components and accessories for Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles sold around the world.
Currently, Mopar Performance parts, for both road and racing use, are sold through 4,200 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge new-car dealers and 100 warehouse distributors in the United States. Mopar products are distributed worldwide through a network of product distribution centers (PDCs).
To assure quality, reliability and durability, all Mopar parts and accessories are designed in strict adherence to DaimlerChrysler engineering standards.
Based in Centerline, Mich., Mopar can trace its roots to 1928. When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928 and added additional brands to the company, the need for a dedicated parts supplier to support his growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Division. In 1937, the Mopar brand (from the combination of the words “MOtor” and “PARts”) was created for the business of distributing parts through a depot system and car divisional wholesalers.
Mopar first carried a line of “Special Parts” for super stock drag racers in 1962 and has since developed a racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts.
In 1967, Mopar became solely responsible for aftermarket sales of parts and accessories for Dodge and the other brands, and has steadily increased its inventory turnover.
In an effort to meet significant new international demand following the 1998 merger of Chrysler Corporation and Daimler-Benz, Mopar is partnering with the Global Service and Parts Organization MB. With this new partner, Mopar is replacing two PDCs with seven new or expanded facilities in Europe.
What began as a small parts making division 65 years ago is today the global parts sales and distribution leader for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles around the world.
