You ought to do a search. Any question you have has been discussed many times. A hot air intake is not a good mod for a turbo. You gain a couple of hp and lose torque in double digits from sucking hot engine air. Seen it on the dyno. Best is doing airbox mods, a K&N drop in filter and replacing the turbo to airbox hose. You still gain a couple of hp but do not lose any torque. How far are you going to mod your GT? ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto

As stated above by Mean Green, most (98%) of the open air intakes are worse than the stock air box, they make a nice noise, but suck in all the hot air under the hood,(costs you HP), now if you have the mechanical ability to remove the left front tire and loosen the inner fender well the you can use one of the 2 or 3 True cold air intakes that are avalible and run the cold ram air hose from the filter to the vent hole next to where the left fog lamp is, this will give you 20+ hp increase due to the density of the colder air being forced into the hose at higher speeds, Here is a picture of the one on my DC4 that a few of use over at PTCrew.com have used, it is called the Apollo Cold Air intake by K&N and is completley sealed from under hood air. http://www.knfilters.com/universal/apollo.htm

Very nice mod, never seen such a radical airfilter change before. Was it hard to do the wheel well "loosening"...also is the tower brace causing any issues with the turbo? I notcied it is very close to it>? No, it was not hard to do, a few 4mm screws and 3 or 4 push pins and the plastic wheel well liner pulls back to install the air hose, also with the 3" aluminum elbow I had from another project amd my AMX1397TTAB pipe that replaces the factory airbox to turbo hose, the filter lined up with the factory fender air hole, and there is already a depression in the inner fender well for air flow anyway, this kit just makes it a true forced cold air intake with a 70mm inlet hose to run anywhere you want outside of the engine compartment area, "although if you live or drive where water would get higher than the inlet you might not want to run the inlet hose to the lower vent and find a higher inlet around the battery area if you happen to have one of the smaller batteries instead of the factory one, or else leave a "water gap" between the filter and the hose as to prevent water damage to your engine! The Apollo is ideal for normally aspired engines up to 250BHP and turbo engines up to 350BHP, although I have seen tests that show that two of these into a 3.00" Y adapter and 3.00" hose on a large 3" inlet turbo engine would be more than enough for a 500hp engine!

Very nice!! I have another filter similar to the K&N but more elongated that I am hooking up to my TTAB from AMX. Waiting on a pipe now but am thinking about running the intake to the grill. I have the Odyssey battery. Any more pics of your install? Especially where the air comes in. ---------- 03 Electric Blue GT 5 Speed S1, Quaife, Hurst and other goodies. 14.3 @96.31

What do you do or plan to do about water, snow and stuff. In the winter Looks like it could clog the pipe. The Odyssey is great no problems. Cut the battery tray and used that to help hold the battery. ---------- 03 Electric Blue GT 5 Speed S1, Quaife, Hurst and other goodies. 14.3 @96.31

As I am retired on disability, I normally don't go out in bad weather, but if I have to the hose is made to quick disconnect at the filter under the hood, I also am working on an adapter to space the hose & filter approx 1" to 1.5" apart as a water gap, then I will test it to see if it changes the performance, as to if I leave it in all year round or not. ---------- '05 GT Dream Cruiser Series 4. Ok, excuse the hell out of me! I was just trying to show the original poster that there was in fact a "True Cold Air" intake that would work on the PT and prevent "Hot" engine air getting into the intake, which WILL make more power than an open air intake sucking in hotter less dense underhood air. Also, as far as I know all air filters will collect bugs & dirt, that is why air filters are used!! I don't now why I even try to answer any posts here as everybody is more of an expert than me! ---------- '05 GT Dream Cruiser Series 4. No.1109 My Mods PT Trailer Project Our PTs

Hello IvAnOv - I've been looking at the Air Raid, and the fact that it uses the base of the factory air box seems to me to be a benefit as the filter is protected somewhat from direct heat from the engine. Because the base of the factory airbox is used, will the factory inlet to the fender also remain in place (and maybe still coax some cooler air to the filter)? ----------

This seems to be a dealer issue more than anything. If you check the threads, I don't think anyone has been turned down for warranty work because of Stage I. My PT '04 lite Stage I has been in a couple of times and they didn't even know it had a Stage I PCM till I told them. Once I even brought in the OEM PCM so they could troubleshoot a no start problem. They never said anything but thanks and everything has always been covered. ----------
