Help me out here guys..... I posted on the message forum a month ago asking if anyone has seen or heard of a lower number series 2 dream cruiser 5 speed than mine. ( 0068) So far no one has responded. Any info would be appreciated. If this is the first or second 5 speed that was sold to the public I probably should quit driving it. It now has 49000 miles. It has been discussed here before that the numbered dash plaques may not have been applied in strict numerical sequence, but having a 5-speed DC2 is a treat no matter when it came down the line Drive and enjoy it in good health, Brian ---------- 5-speed Dream Cruiser S2 #1582 with MP S1 & BOV, Plastic Intake Manifold, rear Eibachs, Supertrapp axle-back exhaust, Crane FireWires & K&N drop-in. Plastic Chrome AMX TTAB AGP UCP and H&R Coilovers coming soon.

I've started typing a reply 4 times and keep deleting it cause it starts too sound disrespectful. So I'll say what's on my mind as tactfully as possible as it is not my intent to offend. These are not COPO Camaros or Shelby Mustangs. They're PT Cruisers . I'm sure there will always be a certain cult following for these cars. but I don't think they will ever be more than a novelty as a collector car.Reason 1, Front Drive, reason 2, it doesn't say SRT on it, reason 3, HHR. Late model cars are a real crappy investment, especially if you're the cat that bought it new. And if its already got 49K anyway, keep driving. Even if it was the first stick car in the series, I doubt very highly it would affect the value much if any at all. Mod away and drive the snot out of it. ---------- 04 DC3#384, returned via lemon law. NOW 04 DC3#392 Both are 5 speeds. Plastic intake,ATX TB,Airbox gutted,Iridiums,Magnecores,K&N,Discless Supertrapp,SRT-4 boost gauge, Hurst STS,XM,Mopar Powered Sub, 6 Silverstars, Rear fogs, Mopar hitch 69 GTS 340 survivor, 70 Duster 340+6, 71 Valiant Survivor, 77 M880(Cummins power), 93 W250 Cummins, 2007 Caravan SXT I bleed MOPAR BLUE- Good Riddance Daimler!

Hey there.... Dave in Ky here. Thanks for the reply. I have spent considerable time trying to research this vehicle with chrysler. All of this info. comes to me directly from Chrysler (no heresay). Orders for the Dream cruiser series 2 were taken starting in the second week of Jan. 03. My car was built on Jan 23, some 7 or 8 days later. This assures me that this was one of the first DC,s made. The overall production was 2189 vehicles with 297 of them being 5-speeds. Chrysler also states that some of the early numbers were not used but cannot or willnot explain why, (possibly some early vehicles did not pass quality control). They also believe that the dash numbers were in sequence for the most part, with some groups of numbers being skipped, but never a higher number used before a lower number. In any case with a ratio of manual trans to auto's being 6.5 to one, and my dash # being 0068, and with a build date of 1/23, and Chryslers statement that some early numbers were not used.... I have to feel quite sure that my car is one of the first few 5- speeds produced. Then consider that the bigwigs at Chrysler and the production plant may have snatched up the VERY first ones and this could well be the first or second car released to the public. Perhaps the strongest argument is the fact that of all of the PT Cruiser Club's 70,000 plus members; none has seen or even HEARD of a lower numbered car. The only report so far is from a automatic with a number in the 40,s. With this many enthusiasts who talk about these cars all the time and go to meets and shows, not one report of any lower numbers. That is what I have found so far. I am continuing to research the car. I will currently sell the car for $12,500. It has 49000 mi. If I can PROVE it is the first car sold, the price will go up.....A lot. Dave ----------
