Doors Unlocking

Mike, A week or two ago, I was driving home from work and the doors unlocked on thier own. I assumed that somehow the button on the FOB got pressed, but in the public forum a couple of other people mentioned this happening. Have you heard of the doors just randomly unlocking while driving? Is it possible that this could happen when parked? Is this something to be concerned about? (it's only happened once to me so far). Thanks.

Could it be that they locked at approx 15 mph? That may be the Rolling Door Lock feature It locks the doors at approx 15 MPH It is customer programmable. Look on page 16 of the owner's manual. Michael J. Challis

My doors have been locking (repeatedly) on their own. The problem is worse when damp and is unaffected by autolock disable. Will take to dealer for oil change and let you know what they find.

Mike, I also read the comments about the doors unlocking, and out of the blue mine unlocked on me yesterday while driving through a residential area. Weather was normal, and there weren't any radio towers in the neighborhood. The doors just unlocked at speed approx. 35 mph. Fred

My gut feeling is it is some sort of RF interference (as alluded to in the other discussion). While I'm certain it isn't being caused by a cell phone (I'm on mine most of the time I'm in my PT), and in my case there weren't any cell towers in the area, I do think there was a big CBer in that neighborhood. If the remote entry is RF based, then it makes sense to me that there could be some interference caused by other local strong signals. Mike, Do you have any specs on what frequency the remote entry works at? That might give us more clues as to what could possibly interfere. Fred Silver LE

I would expect that if it happens this much to so many people then Chrysler will know about it and issue a TSB with a fix or some diagnostic solutions to help the tech find the cause.Chrysler tracks problems by monitoring dealer service visit statistics. Chrysler also has a tech hotline called the STAR Center Hotline (Service Technical Assistance Resource). If a tech needs assistance they first look at shop manuals and service bulletins, then they can call the STAR Center Hotline if they need more help. It is my opinion that Chrysler is one of the best manufacturers for continuously updating service techs with valuable service information by way of TSB's released weekly and with knowledgeable STAR Center support personnel. So I recommend that if this is happening to your PT Cruiser then make a service appt. to get this documented. Mike
