Dream Cruiser Encounters? Can't Post

Just wondering if any Dream Cruiser owners have spotted other Dream Cruisers while driving around?
If so, what did you do?
Wave? Thumbs-up? Wave
Flash your lights or honk??
Act cool and do nothing???

A few weeks ago, me and the missus were heading down one of the main roads in our town and what should turn onto the street ahead of us, but another DCS1. We caught up to it and for a while, the two cars drove in formation. Everyone behind us was a captive audience. Cool
At first, the other driver was oblivious to us, but his passenger spotted what was happening and pointed us out. Some friendly waving commenced. Unfortunately, the other DCS1 exited soon after and headed for the highway.
There seems to be a few other DCS1's in our area. Maybe it'll be a threesome headin' down the road, one day!
Dance

Re: [Clive G] Dream Cruiser Encounters? Can't Post

The only time I had seen another DC1 was while I was working. I tried to get the drivers attention, but to no avail. I was walking delivering mail and she was stopped at a light. Her light changed and off she went. Maybe one day our paths will cross again to share a moment of Dream Cruiser joy.

Re: [Clive G] Dream Cruiser Encounters? Can't Post

I just bought a Series 1 Dream Cruiser and have yet to see another since I bought mine. But when I was test driving mine last week before I bought it, another S1 drove past the lot as I was pulling out. It was kind of surreal, as the one I was test driving was the first one I'd ever seen, and all of a sudden there's another! Smile

Re: [Elenadc] Dream Cruiser Encounters? Can't Post

Congrats on your new DCS1, Elenadc! Cheers

It's funny how they suddenly appear like that. Cool
Before my wife purchased hers last year, she'd occasionally seen one other Series 1 motoring around our town.
Right afterwards, a few more showed up on the roads. Similarly, we noticed several others listed in the local Auto Trader.
Go figure, huh?

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for another Series 2 on the road.
Haven't seen any Series 3's or 4's, either.
One unusual color scheme recently noticed was a black and white PT, having the colors transitioning at an angle (like a wedge), rather than horizontally (eg. the Series 3). Not sure what year or model that one was.
Anybody else seen one of those??

Re: [Clive G] Dream Cruiser Encounters? Can't Post

I see a lot of DCS1's around Toronto with 2's and 3's being a rare sight. And only once did I see a DCS4. The one time I got close to a 2 was quite comical. I could see a Tangerine Dream about 10 cars ahead on the highway. I went out to the left lane and stepped on it. I came roaring up beside it blaring the horn and waving like a fool. Unfortuneately it was a little silver haired granny who must have thought I was trying to carjack her or something and she just about went into the field. I don't think she had any idea about the car either one of us was driving and I got a good chuckle out of it. She probly simply bought it cause she liked the color.

Funny story, Tractorfix! Smile
FWIW, I noticed there's a DCS3 for sale at Dixie Chrysler in Mississauga.
Me and the missus would be tempted to drive over there in our DC's, to get a "threesome" photo.
Cool

Re: [tractorfix] Dream Cruiser Encounters? Can't Post

I went and checked out the DCS3 at Dixie Plymouth(that's what it used to be called). It was a poor sad sorry sight and proof positive that just because someone has an enthusiast type vehicle, they are not nesecarilly an enthusiast. The whole front of it is sandblasted and chips galore. Its well into its second set of tires, and a Canadian Tire battery. The interior was filthy with dirt ground right into the leather. The original embroidered Dream Cruiser mats were in it, but were pretty tattered from being in constant use(mine are hanging in the closet yes I'm dimented about my car). When I started it up, it was quite obviously running on only 3 cyls and the engine light was flashing its little heart out. I don't know how a 3 year old car could be so completely trashed, and how a dealer would even put a piece of junk like that on his lot without even cleaning it up and making sure it ran right.

Oh, for what its worth, we're talking about #413 in the series of 1309. And it was sold new at brampton Chrysler.

Thanks very much for the report, tractorfix.
What a great shame about that poor DCS3! Frown
I sent a brief note to the sales dep't soon after it was advertised, asking for more pics of the car (especially the interior). One of the sales guys said he'd try to take some and add them to the listing... but they never showed up. Hmmmmmm, now we know why.
They sure had a lot of nerve asking that much for a beat up Dreamer with so many miles on the clock.
If the price had been very low, it might have been tempting for somebody to try restoring the car.
Oh, well..... Roll eyes

Re: [sent1] Dream Cruiser Encounters? Can't Post

Doesn't this *always* happen...

After much hunting around and negociating, my wife purchased a 2003 DCS2 from a dealer about 80 miles away from our home, at the end of May.
This was the first Dream Cruiser 2 we'd seen for sale in our area (150 mile radius) since Nov. 2006. The one before that had popped up in August '06.
In the past 3 weeks, *THREE* more DCS2's have come on the local market, with one even being sold in town (just spotted it today!), about 5 miles from our house. Roll eyes
In the words of Homer Simpson....

"D'OH!!!"

How's that for timing? Frown
I guess this goes to show that patience is a good thing and all (or most) things come to those who wait.

Re: [Clive G] Dream Cruiser Encounters? Can't Post

One day after cleaning my car, I seen a beautiful pearle white Cruizer on the highway we were getting off the same exit, I pulled up beside him honked & gave a two thumbs up! I was heading to Jim Hoffer Chrysler to show pic's of a cruiser rally to the dealer that sold me my car. Low & behold the crusier pulled in after I did, I preceeded to tell him "Nice Car! & do you belong to any Cruiser Club?" He then told me that it wasn't his car,it still on the "lot" & that he was the financial advisor there at Chrsler & was just taking the car out for cruise. I was sooo embaressed! Dan just laughed!!(my car dealer) I am always bringing pic's in after a rally! But yes I flash my lights, wave, or sometimes nothing, it depends.

I made a fool of myself. Went to gas station and low and behold another DCS2. First live one I have seen around . Only seen another at a PT show and on interstate. I walked up to her as she was filling her tank.
"HI!!! What number are you??" She looked at me liked I just dropped in from Pluto! That or I was asking her for her phone number. After the shocked look on her face I said " The PT... What's it number?" She had NO clue what I was talking about. I said "there is a dash plaque with a production number on it." She says "really? OH that orange thing" Seems she just noticed it saying Dream Cruiser not the number under it. She looked again and if I'm not mistaken she had #85 or #86. "Wow, you have an early one there" She goes... "Not to early it is a 2003, I bought it used" . Not quite what I meant, I then expained these were limited production and each was given a number etc etc etc. She knew none of that. She thought I was some sort of god when I glanced at the door sticker and told her the birthday of her PT. "I just liked the bronze color" Just had to correct her on that one too, said it's called tangerine. "oh I guess that works too" At that point I bade a final adious and went home shaking my head.
And no... she was not blonde!!!!

Told my wife the story when I got home and she just says, not everyone is as PT geeky as you are! I'm still fighting the free professional couseling she is willing to pay for. Nothing is "free"

Yup, it seems some folks aren't too aware of what they're driving... or selling.
The Dreamer Series 2 that just appeared on a local dealer's lot is being advertised as a GT.
"Orange exterior, black interior".
No mention of it being a Dream Cruiser.
At least it's not described as bronze. Wink

It is sad that some people think that the GT and the Dreams, (heck with that, any PT) is just a thing to go from point A to B in. I think that I liked it better when there few PT's out there and everybody waved at each other. Frown

As I was driving past a commercial car wash this AM, I saw a Gold DC departing. It looked to be in good condition. I have only seen one other gold Cruiser in my town and this may have been one that was at a Chevy dealer about a year ago.

Yeah, I've seen that too.
The latest one popped up at a dealer in Scarborough, where my wife got her DCS1 last year.
Funny that they pictured it with steel rims and winter tires. Very unflattering!

Re: [Clive G] Dream Cruiser Encounters? Can't Post

CheeringHI CLIVE, I am not a dream cruiser owner but I spotted my first one a couple days ago. I already posted the story on the events thread as this newbie, Lynxx34, has one and was asking about the regional. I am just going to copy and paste as I am lazy.
You are not going to believe it. I saw my first Dream Cruiser today. It came into the lot where I work and I just knew it was one. It was gold like SENT1's and I went running out and attacked these two guys and asked a million questions, blessed them for coming by my work. They didn't even know it was one, as was using it for work. I was sure and looked at the back and omg, it has a emblem on it that says Dream Cruiser. I was so in love with it. The guys sort of acted uncomfortable, like I was going to steal it. The one guy wanted to leave and I told him please do me a big favor and wave and honk at me when you leave and please, may I touch it and he says sure. He did honk and wave. I was in heaven. I do get a little excited over PT Cruisers. I honk and wave my arm off and no reaction. This was so thrilling to me. Bow

That's a neat story, Mickey! Cool
It would be great if more people who drove PT's were as enthusiastic about them as you (and many of the rest of us, here) are. When it comes to waving and getting no reaction, that seems to be the norm in just about any situation. PT Cruisers or any other type of vehicle.
I dunno... a lot of drivers don't seem too aware of what's going on around them. So when one of us waves at 'em, you can bet they never even see it. Wave

I was thinking of having some business-sized cards made up, with the phrase "Nice PT Cruiser!" printed on them. Just an anonymous compliment that would be a nice surprise for the owner. Leave a card under the windshield wiper of someone's PTC when you see one that's particularly shined up or otherwise eye-catching.

If they'd have trouble seeing a friendly wave on the roadway, a compliment card on the windshield would be harder to miss. Dance
