Dream Series 1 - any manual models created?? Can't Post

Did Chrysler create any DS 1's "the Inca Gold" models with a 5spd tranny? Or are they all automatics? Have seen several used models here in the tri-sate area for sale at very reasonable prices. None are manual though, also did a web search and none manual there either.

The thing I like about the 1st series is it stands out against all the other colors on the road! Plus the wheels are really nice...

I would say no. All the Dream Series cars are automatic.

Re: [mikemcl] Dream Series 1 - any manual models created?? Can't Post

Manual or automatic (auto stick on '03 and '04 models - don't know about '05) was the only factory option available on the Dream Cruisers. On Dream #1, auto tranny option was an additional $825 (per window sticker); for Dream #2 & #3, auto-stick tranny option was $290 (per window stickers).

When I started looking for an '03 Dreamer I thought I wanted a manual, but they were few and far between. I ended up with auto-stick - a compromise of sorts. Keep beating the bushes - maybe an '02 is out there just waiting to be found. Good luck!

I believe all DCs came manual standard with auto trans as an option. Most dealers stocked them with Automatics as they are easier to move! My DC3 is a five speed with 1600 miles am I may sell it for financial reasons. I believe at Cruise the falls I saw several DC1s with 5 speeds. I allmost bought a used DC2 in VA that was a 5 speed.

Thanks for the replies, well if anyone spots a DC1 with a 5spd tranny up for sale let me know! But one thing is for sure, I am having lots of fun scanning NY and NJ for the PT of my choice! Will still want to go to a delaer and see what the 06 models look like up close, actually like the new Street series in solar yellow!

I test drove an auto and a manual LE edition before I settled on my turbo 180hp convertible TE 05 model. The manual had some pep but the auto was a dog...too slow for my blood. I wish they put the turbo on the Ruote 66...DC should have done that in my mind.

Re: [mikemcl] Dream Series 1 - any manual models created?? Can't Post

03 and 04 Dream Cruisers were built on top of loaded GTs and were expensive, mine had a $29400 sticker with a 5 speed manual. I know they only made 1309 total DC3s, in my opinion it was due to the price. I think they wanted to keep the price down so as to sell more. In my opinion they should have made it the customers decision whether or not to get a turbo. Let the customer decide if you want a turbo pay more and order it with one! I had an 01 LE and I wont buy one without the HO turbo motor, the naturally aspirated motor is OK but turn on the AC and it dies!

I dunno, I drove an auto naturally aspirated TE 04 model and I couldn't get any speed on the on-ramp to a highway. The 5sp LE got there ok, but couldn't do much else. The Turbo lite is the best of both worlds, good gas mileage, awesome punch, regular gas...ps. I am dying to get the Stage 1 anyway! Alll the Dream Cruisers are awesome. Especially the burnt oprange on they made prior to the Rte 66, and yes an optional Turbo would have been the logical choice for that one....
Rgds..

My 01 LE had Bassani Duals and a K&N FIPK it was OK when I drove alone and A/C was off. I hated merging onto freeways I actually used to turn off the A/C to merge. I had an 03 GT auto and now 04 5 speed GT- DC3 and there is no comparison! I was trying to be nice didn't want to bash non turbos, lots of nice people own them. Me I will personally never own another non turbo PT unless DC puts in a Hemi, LOL!

Don't think we were bashing, it's obvious these cars were meant for CRUISING no ZOOming, but some models were/are anemic and that is ok for some. It is good that DC offers an alternative with the Turbos.

Anemic is the word I used to use also LOL. I sold my 1998 maxima and bought the 01 PT on sight only. I loved the look and it handled pretty good but one ride in the first GT I could find was it. I traded it within a week for a stripped cloth interior, no sunroof but chrome wheeled black GT. That car with an autostick was a totally different animal, finally power to go with the look! Now I have a 5 speed DC3, a different animal still! Autostick was OK but I like my German manual the best!

It is true, the look of this car demands a bit more oooomph if you ask me. I thought it really odd that the base models were terribly slow. But DC gives the PT lover so much variety it is astounding, variety in both look, power and feel. It's a tryul awesome car. Now if I could only kill these MOD fever that has been hitting me! I am dying to put thos Buick Port holes on the side of my hood, and the Stage 1, and the Borlas!! OUCH!Smile

Lets see I am thinking stage 1, BOV, Mopar Borla duals, intake box mod, rear lowering springs and sway bar. Oh the list goes on I even like the look of the Mopar body kit. The only thing stopping me besides the money is that my car is one of 1300 and under 2000 miles!

What he is saying is that the convertible did not come out until '05 & has the original PT sedan front end, and in '06 they changed the headlights, grill & front hood emblem on all PTs, so the '05 convertible is a one of a kind model.

OK now I get it, a little brain fart! It has a GT nose with the bigger grille for the intercooler right? The body kit is a bolt on lower ground effects package. I think they show it on the web site under accessories or under accessorise when you build one. I have seen it on electric blue and silver cars. I figure if it looks good on blue and silver it would look good on blue-silver two tone. Never mind my logic LOL!

I meant ANY 05 convertible, like mine. DC started making the verts in 05 and then changed the nose of the car for 06 on all models. Therefore if you own an 05 convertible PT it is the one and only year for this model.Bow

I like the original nose better! I cant get myself to like the new changes. I dont like the wheels on the GT, the new headlight openings or the dash. If I was looking for a convertable it would be an 05 GT!

Almost true the 05 Convertible sold from August 04 till now. an that is not very long. I see the GT 5 Speed becoming a collector car. IMO
