Extended Warranty Can't Post

Should I or Shouldn't I? Anyone know? Just bought the 2006 High output turbo. I just adore my new cruiser and plan on keeping it a very long time. I do not "repair" my own cars, nor does my husband or dad. So, should I invest in the extended warranty? If yes, from the dealer or from an independent agent? Thanks so much.

Yes, you will want it. Many things go out after the standard 36000/36Month warranty. The fact that you've a turbo and autostick is a big reason. The auto trans aren't the strongest units and are prone to failure from excessive boost and lead foot.

Dealer or otherwise? Go with dealer. At the least they'll be able to react quicker with service and repairs.

Regards!

With an auto, YES. You have to be careful with independents because if they go out of business you are up the creek as far as being covered. It does happen. I went through my dealer. Might be a little more spendy but it will be there if you need it.

I'd say, NO, it's a waste of money. If you do get one, go through the dealer. BUT, I'd recommend you just put the money you plan to spend on the extended warranty in a separate savings account, instead. Sure, you might "lose," but odds are, in the long run, you will save. Don't forget the deductables you are likely to pay for extended warranty work, too.

The seller of the warranty is betting that you won't need all that work done, and plan to make a profit. They are most likely right. Wave

Cool This is my philosophy,"Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it".With the autostick and the turbo there are many things that can go wrong after the 3 yr /36k warrantee is over.+ if you and your mechanic are creative you can have many items replaced before a 7yr/70,000 mile warrantee ends.Get it from the dealer and keep in mind that it will also pay your independent mechanic for any covered repairs that are made.God Bless ........Mike

Its a tough balance. If you can get it "cheap" and most dealers will deal when pushed. My ford windstar needed it (did not have it) My ford f150 never needed it. My 2004 GT never got it. What I would suggest is getting the basic power train cover for as long as you can (factory version). Most of the other things that go wrong are not covered i.e. rubber vent hoses ( ask how I know!!) You should be able to get the cover for $800-900 for 100k/7years.

In my personal opinion, a dealer is like a mafia (Cosa Nostra) when I decided to modified the motor of my dream, obviously I lost the waranty, but my Dream works perfectly now ! the two services that I did with the dealer let me with a very bad impresion... They didn´t change the stock air filter and the spark plugs and send it to me like brand new !

For a turbo...A definite yes. The tranny is by far the weakest link in a auto turbo pt. Countless number of people have had probs with it even without stage 1. It adds resale to the car and is also transferable. The Gold Plus plan also includes oil changes during your warranty period.

Re: [drakos] Extended Warranty Can't Post

I would.

Here's my story.

2003 GT Turbo - 43,000 miles and AC went out.

I live in Florida.

Dealer said compressor has a bad seal and they can't replace seals - need to replace entire compressor at the tune of 1100. And the little fan the cools the compressor is 'loud' and they recommend you replace. 660.

Extended waaranty around 1,000 takes it to 70K - looks like I saved money.

An AC compressor dropping at 43K??

I'm selling this piece of junk - typical Chrysler quality.

might by a horse......

Cool
