Hey, first timer! I know exactly how you feel. I saw my car on the showroom floor from the STREET an made a Uturn to go back to look at it. I could not believe my eyes...cutest red convertible on the planet or in the solar system...HAD TO HAVE IT!! I was so afraid my husband would be practical and say "No, Linda, somebody might slash the top, or steal stuff out of it, or yadayadayada...." But HE loved it TOO and we BOTH had to have it! The only question remaining was whether our dog would look best in a red one or a cream color. Well, Golden Retrievers are MEANT to be in red convertibles, so that was a short decision, haha. Then, the wait began....24 of the longest hours of my life, AND the day we got it it was raining! My husband tried to convince me to wait til the next day when the rain stopped, but I was unstoppable! I got to drive it off the showroom floor. We drove our new baby home one mile away from the showroom. We left it in the carport most of the day, waiting for the rain to stop, but I could play with the CD player and line up my 6 CD tunes, read the manual, etc. ALL of this was done sitting in the car in the rain, haha. Sometimes when I am in the passenger seat, I put the seat back and look at the clouds while we are driving. I love the way you hear birds (watch out they don't poop in your car, haha) when you come to a stop light or sign. We live in a townhouse, and this is one way we can have more nature. Love it. Get ready to have people use the word "cute" everytime they look at it. I think it looks like an easter basket with the handle. Someone else said that, and they are so right! What color are you getting???? I wish I could tell you what you can do to ease the pain while you are waiting. Nothing can do that!!! Oh, maybe you could go to Target and buy some carwashing stuff. I can't stand to have dust on mine, and I wash it twice a week in oak pollen season, which is now. Yellow dust is on it almost as soon as I wash it! Un-acceptable!!! I bought (at Target) a 3' long wand with a soft brush on the end of it that attaches to the hose. I dip it in the sudsy wash/wax stuff, put it on the car so easily, and then flip the switch on the handle to let the rinse water come through to rinse it off the car. Car is washed in a snap. Then I also bought this really cool yellow sponge rubbery feeling cloth, not a shamois, but like that. It dries the car off SO FAST...even faster than a shamois. I am finished washing it in a flash. And then...the RED REFLECTION of my SMILING face in the paint just blows my mind. WHy would ANYONE want another car???? Get ready to feel sorry for everyone else who is not driving one. You will be one of the new PT CRUISER Convertible poster children. Our mission is to let envious people know that THEY TOO can afford such a fun car! I still can't believe that this car is only ten dollars a month more than my Honda Civic was. No brainer...which car would YOU want??? Enjoy your day tomorrow....hope you don't go crazy in the mean time! Linda in Houston

Well Linda, I'm glad I'm not the only one that washes their car more than once a week. Mine does stay in the garage, but I went to east Texas this weekend and when I returned to Dallas, my wind shield and hood were covered in bugs. It was spotless Thursday and I was out washing it again Sunday. I know my neighbors must think I'm crazy for washing it so often, but those bugs were just too much. I was ashamed to bee seen that way. Not to mention the terrible smell in my garage from all those dead bugs. I hear the word cute a lot too. I was stopped at a stop sign in a small town with the top down this weekend and a guy who was walking across the street told me he liked my car. Guys like it and women think it is just the cutest thing. ----------

Your comment, "The bugs were just too much!!!" had me rolling on the floor laughing. I had CAT TRACKS across my hood the day after I washed it last time! HOW RUDE! I grabbed that hose faster than you can say "WASH IT" and had that crap off of my "child" in no time! THEN...the very next day, BIRD POOP ON THE HOOD!!!!!!! HORRORS!!!!!! Grabbed the hose again, of course! First timer, you said that as soon as you "come down" you will write to us again to update. You WILL NOT come down!!! Write anyway! I have one more question for you, First timer....did you sleep in it??? Hahahahaha. I'd never tell! PT CRUISER VIRGIN< LOLOLOLOL!!!! Linda ---------- linda

Ok, I hope this works. I'm trying to post a photo of River and my husband (yes I let him drive it somtimes) in our joymobile. It's a little blurry, but it's so cute. I'll try to improve on the quality of it, but wanted to show you how cute River is in his toy. Linda ---------- linda

Hello, She's Here.... a healthy baby PT... I don't know where to start... I'm in LOVE... I have to be considered a true convertible owner now... because the night we picked her up was about 35 degrees but we went with hats, and had the windows up, heat on and drove around all night with the TOP DOWN... I hated to put her 2 sleep, but she was tired... and needed a nap.. but the next day the top came down even though it was about 45 degrees...and we drove all around town stopping at each car shop looking for accessories, cleaning materials, etc the went with PT's. I looked her over and over and over... even cleaned the floor mats from the night b4... THen the bad news... it snowed and turned about 25 degrees... so she couldnt go out w/out her hat on.... now today it's still snowing but supposed to turn about 45... and get nicer over the next couple of days... so she is in the garage waiting to be cleaned and ready to make her big easter debut to the rest of the family... I'm lovin it even more than I thought... Now here is a funny question...but someone said about the cars beep to each other...is that true or just playing around... If so all models, just verts... call me nieve but when it comes to PT's...who knows, I dont doubt anything with them. I must go and check on the baby,,, I think I hear her in the garage crying (beepin) for me... I'm still not sure on a name yet... taking suggestions... I'll post her baby pix as soon as I get a chance. I lost my PT virginity...and I'm lovin it... no going back now... ----------

Chris, River, Joymobile, and I send our congratulations to you, your wife, and your new "child.' We know how you feel! You'll know when the name is right. Loved your stories about driving around with the heater on...it works great, doesn't it? Best heater I have ever had on a car. It's really warm as soon as you turn it on. Don't want to make you jealous, but it's been in the 70s all during my spring break, so we've been topless a lot without the heater. Took a beautiful drive to the country yesterday. Got our first bug covered grill...UN-AC-CEPTABLE! I washed her as soon as we got home! The euphoria just doesn't go away. I'm the one who said they beep at each other when you pass another PT CONVERT. Is there any other car to own? I might have been kidding, but then again, it might have happened. Can't say for sure! I think it did. Did it??? It was a silver one, and Joymobile thought of you when we saw it. Have fun. The honeymoon's not anywhere near over and we celebrate our first month with Joy tomorrow. ---------- linda

Yeah the temperature here is supposed to be 75 this afternoon. It is about 59 now. I find these days that I schedule my errands around the weather. I try to stay out of the rain and find an errand to run when the weather is nice. Soon as the temperature warms up a few more degrees, I'm taking her out of her house (garage) and going for a drive. Hope your weather gets better soon DAVEAmyH. My car is almost 4 months old and I still love it. It was raining the night I bought it, but the next day I was running around topless with the heat on. It truly does have a good heater. I've even had a couple of days where I ran the AC with the top down. I had my first really dumb convertible moment over the weekend. You know how sometimes there is a bee or some sort of bug flying around and you try to get in the car and shut the door before it gets inside? I swatted a bug away as I was getting in and then thought to my self why? The top is down. It can just fly on in. ----------

Tips and stories, or first "convertible moment." We'll this is my first convertible and I'm surprised at the power of the GT, keep in mind like all new convertible owners I haven't left the driveway during daylight with the top up yet. So I pull up to the dry cleaners about a month ago (you know right in front of the store so i don't have to put the top up and yet I can still watch my baby). The girl behind the counter says "cool car" and then asks for the dry cleaning slip. I look at the car, then look at her and say "I have not put the top up while driving since I bought it and I have lost every receipt for every purchase I've made since." It has taken me three months to learn to not put any paper or money on the seat or center console, my apologies to the environment but I had a roof for twenty years. Even my little cup holder kleenex box is somehwere on Interstate 15. I can't buy lottery tickets anymore because I know I'll pick the numbers and the ticket will fly out of the car. The funny thing is that I had a Mercedes and an Infiniti before I let my 10 and 12 year old kids pick out my current car and nobody ever said "cool car" or waived at me but now I get both almost daily and at half the price. Taking my kids car shopping was the smartest thing I ever did. ----------
