Our '06 GT Turbo has developed a sort of flat spot on accelleration sometimes, particularly around corners??? only 6500 miles on it, just past the second oil change. Any Ideas?? Thanks! ----------

I've gone back and really racked my brain to see what has changed lately with our '06 PT GT: We try & change brands of premimum fuel staying with major brands to get the benefit of each ones additives. I am afraid that I am guilty of trying to fill up the gas tank to the very brim (the cap) and I have done that the last SEVERAL tanks-I wonder if my practices I started back in the 70s are not good for the '06 PT GT in some way?? We have been using Sunoco premimum the last 3 tanks, but we just filled with Chevron this past Monday. We tried 89 octane Sunoco about 3 months ago and felt that the engine didn't run nearly as well on it, so we went back to premimum-I wonder if I should re-set the computer and start over? or is this seemingly fat spot something we should ask our dealer to check out?? ----------

You should NOT fill the tank to the brim. There is lots of emission related equipment that can be permanently damaged. I would replace the sparkplug wires with some GOOD aftermarket ones and regap the plugs to .035. Poor ignition wires are a very well known problem, regapping the plugs to .035 really helps too. ----------

There's one emission sensor I know of that's a $300 repair bill when you continually overfill the tank. Never go past the first shut off. The plugs aren't shot, but are probably gapped at .050 from the factory and should be only .040 for a stock GT. .035 is used for stage 1. I would change the plug wires. The stock wires are crap. ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto

OK, Then should we consider my sensor bad as of now, with just 3 fill-ups to the brim?? Wonder if I should take it in to the dealer-its under warranty!! ?? ----------

If and EVAP-related sensor (or any sensor for that matter) is bad, shouldn't there be a CEL and a code? ---------- 2001 silver Limited-Touring (leather/suede, 4W disk, traction, heated mirrors & all :-) Mods: Tokico HP all around / Energy Suspension Master Kit / K&N drop-in / R1 Concepts drilled & slotte disks all around / Enkei RPF1 16x7 wheels & Conti Extreme Contact rubber / Prestige APS620 remote starter

If you don't have a CEL light you are OK. Just don't make a habit of it. I know that we don't do it till something happens, but read and follow your manual especially during your warranty period. ----------

Thanks!! I think I've learned my lesson!! Any idea as to why the factory gaps the spark plugs at .50 and everyone feels that they should be at .40 for the GT with Turbo?? What are the absolute best plugs and wires that I should get when the time comes?? ----------

There is a Tech Bulletin on the change to .040". I have no idea why the factory is still gapping them at .050" if that is the case. I run Iridium plugs gapped at .030 and Taylor wires, extremely smooth with lots of low end power. Starts great and the idle is glass smooth, I'm happy. ----------

If you are a member you can go to the TSB forum for the Tech Bulletin. I would do a search to see what everyone is using for aftermarket plugs and wires as there are many threads concerning plugs and wires. ----------

My 04 Gt has the same thing. it happens around 2000 to 2400 rpms but is the turbo spooling up. Changing the plugs and wires can help lesson it though. ---------- 04 "SRT-4" PT Cruiser w/ AutoStick (in Sea Mist Green, 1 of 146) Stage 1, Mopar BOV, MagnaFlow 2 1/2 cat back exhaust, MSD black 8.5mm wires, Stock Champion Plugs gapped at .035, S&B Cold air intake, H&R sport springs, Progress 27mm front sway bar, Energy Suspension motor mount inserts, 06' tail lights, 06' Hood emblem, T-handle on rear glass, SRT-4 badges, factory chrome accent group, chrome door cups, 8" Mopar sub, ClearBra. 205/50ZR17 Sumitomo HTRIII tires

I have had that problem too a few times. I too have a bad habit of topping off the tank to the nearest dollar amount and have had a bog off acceleration. What happens is the newer cars gas tanks are made so when you fill them up there's no air left in the tank. The evac system that the vehicle will support allows for ventilation in your tank. But what happens is there is a vent on the sending unit (fuel pump) in the tank and if the fuel goes up to it the valve has a little check ball that closes the vent not allowing air to enter the tank and causes your evap system not to function correctly. I thought the first time i over filled it that it came only as a coincidence but when i did it the following week... well i figured i was doing it wrong. Haha. Another thing you might want to try - if the stumble is at a higher rpm and not at take off - is a tune up. I would suggest MSD total ignition. Wires & coil. A good Iridium Plug and maybe also a K&N Air filter. If you lookin into the K&N filter maby look up the typhoon kit. Works really good in my car and i noticed a great difference. 11.8hp to be exact. Anyhoo.. hopefully all this is good info. ----------
