What does everyone think about this articial?
CNN/Money "Retro is dead" Jan 7, 2003
To me, if the retro look was dead before it was born, why build retros? I think everyone here is glad that the retro look was reborn.

Well the article said they're competing with the japanese for market share. That's no easy task. But to say that Retro is dead is as short sighted as a mole.
some facts: - the Retro look IS wildly popular especially with boomers. - the functionality of the cruiser is a bonus. - they're so worried about maintaining a retro look while bringing out new models each year. Apparently they missed out on the excessories market since nearly all PT owners customize their car for a unique retro look.
My Opinion: - I'll bet the the article was written by some generation X guy with a terminal lack of style and imagination. - Many of the new designs being introduced are down right ugly with that cutoff "Aztec" leading the pack.

The "X-gen" cars of today? Aerodynamic blobs or Sci-Fi junk piles. All in the name of "Style". Where are my whitewalls? ---------- Sincerely Yours, RailNut

While I was growing up I never had an appreciation of cars because both Mom and Dad are totally blind since birth. When the PT came along I fell in love with it do to its look and versitility, and if it has a history behind it all the better. I think the reporter in question should stop analyzing and start enjoying. Thank You

I am an "inbetweener." I am younger than the boomers and I think that todays youth are all psychotic. I love my Cruiser. I bought it on October 22, 2002 and have over 11,000 miles on it. I will drive it until it drops. BTW, if the retro look is dead, why are other carmakers coming out with these type of cars as well? Chevy and VW are just two. Wait until you see the retro pickup Chevy has. The PT still sells well. It is a very practical, yet very cool car. I am 39 and I have friends who are from the mid-30's to the mid-50's who also have and love the PT cruiser. I bought mine after driving in my friend Bruce's. Bruce is a 38 yo research physician at Tulane University. I thought it was cool and a good value for all that you get in the car. I STILL DO!!

Also, my wife is coming around a bit! She has gotten to drive it two times and she said that it drove well. She realy likes the sunroof, too! However, she still says it looks like an old-time hearse, though. [eek]
Oh well, I guess that she will always feel that way.

Obviously Chrysler doesn't agree. The Crossfire, the Dodge Ram (has some retro lines), and they wouldn't be planning on a new PT for 2006 or 2007, they feel otherwise. Also Chevy is making an "attempt" with the retro look (I'll stick with DC's designs any day. CNN/Money must like the typical cookie cutter look! RETRO IS NOT DEAD Actually, the best thing would be that everyone else keep going their direction with vehicle design, if every car were retro we wouldn't be different ---------- Inferno red,Touring,5 spd, all options but leather. Chrome;Bumpers, wheels, grille, mirrors,Chrome Engine parts, upper stress bar,K&N Intake,Chrome & Wood interior, hood struts(no more darn prop!),Custom stereo (clean and loud:) Borla Duals(roar!!), Hedman headers, performance Mod, running boards, Chrome bumpers, grille, mirror covers, spears, pillars, Teardrop tail lights,Ooha horn and many other goodies:). I'm out of control!! I'm in love! Update, I give up, I've lost track of everything, let's just say I've added "a few" more things
