That's pretty rare. What does "tranny gone out" mean? What doesn't it do?

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

I have only heard of automatic transmissions going out on PT's.

If the car is only 2 weeks out of the car lot, shouldn't there be some kind of 30-60 day full warranty or return policy?

Re: [sent1] GT tranny went out..... Can't Post

I contacted the dealer, since it was an "as is" sale they are not going to help me out. I went to a second shop for a second opinion on the problem. This one said the sound was coming from slack in the input shaft. Shop said not to worry about it and that it would not affect the life or performance of the transmission. He recommended flushing the tranny and putting in high-end synthetic fluid to help quiet the noise ?????

sounds better than the alternative. I have been thinking of doing that myself (having a 5 speed) just for the longevity of it. Mine is just shy of 60k miles now.

May I recommend the Red Line MTL - I use it in my Tracer and the stuff works great!

You can also find it on ebay - I got mine from these guys.

Oh ya! IPCW (the brand) and Autotrucktoys (the ones I bought them from) were great! As the story goes, I made the purchase about a year ago. When I contacted Autotrucktoys they didn't hesitate to arrange the return to IPCW. It took a while for IPCW to evaluate the taillights but when they did, they instructed autotrucktoys to replace them. I had originally bought the chrome ones. I had many seconds thoughts on this choice for the Inca Gold on my dreamer (especially since I added the black around the bottom). At the last minute the day Autotrucktoys was supposed to send out the new set, I asked them to send black ones instead. They did (pic below).

I had a slight problem on the right side sith the top on the taillight staying still once fitted and screw tightened. I tried an experiement using windshield washer tubing. I took a length of the tubing and tucked it around the taillights with a small screwdriver. This made it like a gasket. This not only tightened the fit but gave it a nice finished appearence like the headlights. I would reccommend this to anyone for any of the taillights.

They look awesome!! Good call on the black ones to go with your black paint accents.

Now you "need" these for the front to match the back. Wink

kudos on the use of the windshield washer tubing. Cool I LOOOOOVE creative thinking Bow

Sounds like a bearing kit needed. What did they quote you for the repairs??

They said it couldn't be repaired with out replacing the transmission. I didn't get a price for a new transmission.

click on the link and read the excerpt from the Oregon law. It states Oregon adopted the federal law and then cites the requirements. the red letters I added for emphasis...
