Gasoline Smell in 06 convertible

A couple of days ago I started to smell gasoline in my convertible, not just after starting but driving down the road. I've looked under the hood a couple of times and found nothing.Yesterday I took it over to my local Chrysler Dealership. They said bring it bake next Tuesday. I hope it last that long. My gas mileage has dropped to 15.6 and it's a non turbo. I also hear a loud noise coming from under the dash some place, every time I hit a small bump in the road. The first time They said it was my easy pass hitting the wind shield. So I took it off and the noise is still there.I see a new 07 Chevy Impala in my future. ---------- big jim

Silvereagle, Raise hood and go to the passenger side of car and trace the fuel line and make sure it is connected to the metal line from the back on the firewall Have some one start it cold and watch the connection, see if it leaks. if it doesn't , its got to be leaking somewhere to lose gas mileage that fast. Maybe at injector rail, or gas tank , see any puddles, have it towed to repair center, don't drive , Hope i helped !! ----------

I've looked under the hood twice, The dealer didn't even take a short look at it so I'm going to continue to drive it and hope by Tuesday the thing catches on fire someplace that doesn't have a fire station close by. Then when the dealer can't explain there actions I'm going out and buy a new 07 Chevy Impala V6 3.5.. I rented one last year when my Dodge truck was stolen and it got 24.5 local. ---------- big jim

I took the convertiblr to the dealership for the things I posted. I got it back with no paper work or charge eight hours later. They said that they found nothing wrong. This past week end I drove the cruiser 138 miles and got 19.1 miles per gallon. That's not to good for a car that's supposed to get 25 on the highway. They said blame it on the Ethenol. ---------- big jim

Hi, Sorry about your problems.....I do believe Ethanol burns faster than regular gas....so mileage will drop...I have an 2006 N/A and I get around 20-22 mpg....It gets nowhere near the posted sticker of 26mpg...But it is a box on wheels and heavy....nothing auero=dynamic about it. But its nice.....Maybe check with another dealer? Good luck Mike ----------

The only car that we have that isn't effected by the Ethenol is my wife's 01 Buick Century. It's a V6. My other two ,one a 01 pt gets a little better mileage then the 06 PT and My 04 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 4x4 Hemi ThunderRoad lost about 5 miles per gallon over the winter. ON March 15th were supposed to shifting over to the summer grades so maybe things will change for the better if not I can always put the 18 inch tires back on the convertible. It has 16's for the winter. ---------- big jim
