Holy crap! What happened to the value of my GT? I bought this thing less than 2 years ago with Nav, heated leather, chrome package, Autostick and power roof. 15000 miles like new in and out. I went into a dealership today on a whim to look and another vehicle. They would only offer me $12,000 for my GT that cost me $26,000 plus T,T and R. So I went to a second dealership. Same thing. What is going on here? I have never seen a car depreciate that much. Not even a Pinto. I still owe $23,000 on it! ---------- Silver GT, Airaid intake, BTG exhaust, Mopar BOV, navigation and Sirius radio, Chrome accent package, Autostick, STAGE 1! And that's why they call 'em New Car Stealers. Go to www.KBB.com and you can see what your car is worth in a private sale. The local New Car "Stealer" wants to make big $$$ on the new vehicle - and on the trade in. It's so convenient to just trade it in and drive out in a new one - but damn it's co$tly... In what seems to be a previous life I WAS a car salesman. For months on end I was the TOP man in units sold. I was fired for being the "low gross profit" man. Guess I had the concept all wrong -- I was trying to make a good deal for my customers... ----------

The one dealership told me that PT's were very hard to sell and that the rental car companies had flooded the used car market with them. The fact that my car is a GT meant nothing to them. If they had offered me 18.5 for it that would still be ripping me off. Whatever. I didn't really want to trade it anyway. I am definately not going to trade it now. The way car dealerships do business is BS. I really think that something should be done to pretect people from them. I hear horror stories everyday. They sold my mom a used Ford ranger with crank up windows for $12000. I looked it up on KBB that day and the full retail was like $9000 and the trade in value was $4000. I guess it's not a crime to take advantage of ignorant people, but I still wanted to follow that salesman home and play baseball with his head. ---------- Silver GT, Airaid intake, BTG exhaust, Mopar BOV, navigation and Sirius radio, Chrome accent package, Autostick, STAGE 1! Re-sale value of most car models is usually low. I bought my PT cruiser toruing convertible turbo for 18k with 8k on it. Considering it went for 22 new, thought it was not bad and still do. I never intend to trade it or sell it. When I was shopping for a PT I found many with over 15k miles on them going for much less...just enjoy the GT, it is a great car. ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

Car dealers DON'T deal. They STEAL. If you want to sell your PT do it privately. The dealer will not offer anywhere close to the real market value. They want to make a buck and re make the same buck on a trade in. They offered me extended warranty on my car. They really wanted to push hard on that. On such a warranty, there is a $100 deductable for the owner who must pay first. Scam? You bet. Buying an extended warranty on a nice blender is more worth the cost than the extended warranty on the basic for a new or used car. Take good care of your car and hold it for a long time. Maybe many of these sheisters will be put out of buisness. ---------- The photo in the avatar is me back when I weighed 720 lbs. Today I'm beyond 1000.

Hi Dino welcome to the world of New Car Stealers.I am the one rare exception to their game. When the PT came out in 2000 I saw it at the N.Y. Auto Show and it was love at first sight and I started saving for one.Wouldnt pay the rediculous 30% above MSRP so I patiently waited. My wife found a Black 2001 with 3000 total miles sitting on a Buick lot a 1/2 mile from my house a Limited Edition with every option available that happened to be right next to a Dodge Dealership in June of 2002.When I inquired as to asking price found out it was sitting on the lot 8 months with no takers. When I ran the vin # and kellied the PT found it had a retail of 25,500 dollars. The dealer came out of the box and 16,750,I said fine and the rest is history. When they went to put the dealer logo on the car I stopped them and said that when I get done with this it is going to be one nice little flashy car and a rolling billboard for the dealership, what do you have to offer to me to allow you to put it on??They then took another 750 dollars off the top and I got Miss Crn for a total outlay of 16,000 dollars.I had gotten very lucky because the owner of the dealership just wanted the car gone and he couldn't take the embarrassment of having a near new cruiser on his lot, next to a DODGE dealer, and not being able to sell it.The owner and I over the next year became friends, and he took great delight in watching the evolution of Miss Crn to what she is now.BTW he had also said that the best advertising money he ever spent was the 750 dollars he gave me.The first standard question all customers are asked right after Can I help you?? is How did you find out about our dealership??.In over 40 cases that resulted in sales the answer was "The retrochromed Black PT in the neighborhood running NY Tag # 250 RN.+everytime I stop by to show him the latest mod I have done he loves to show everyone the car I "Stole" from him.Well just take good care of your GT,and run it till the wheels fall off.hey just want to make killer profiton both ends of the deal.....God Bless......Mike ---------- Mike Casabianca His: 2001 Black LE with Auto Transmission, BullDog Signs Flames, WeatherTec wind deflectors, cargo area mat, PT trash can, PT valve stem caps and Dart's coldair intake, chrome tail and headlight bezels, chrome bumper inserts, chrome license plate pillow, chrome fender trim, 1940's retro chrome on front and back fenders, door spears, chrome hatch door trim, chrome gas door, brushed chrome door sills, billet door pins, custom "BlueHaze" dash mat, MRK Group lugnut covers, dome light trim, etc. and the chrome goes on...... Thanks for all the support you guys. I do love my PT. I was looking at the Lancer evolution IX. The 2006 model will be the last of the real rally inspired Evo's, the Evo X is just going to be just another sports car. So I was considering jumping on one. I would miss my PT to death, and I can't really afford any more speeding tickets anyway. So this is probably the best outcome anyway. ---------- Silver GT, Airaid intake, BTG exhaust, Mopar BOV, navigation and Sirius radio, Chrome accent package, Autostick, STAGE 1!
