Hi, friends! Please remember that tomorrow is the last day to reserve a room at the discounted rate! Even if you think you might come to the event, go ahead and book a room to reserve the rate. ----------

Hi Rhonda, Also, the room can be canceled up to 6pm on Apr 4th without penalty. That makes it a good reason to give it some thought. ---------- If it's gonna happen - it's gonna happen out there.

We just came on the scene as new owners the 1st of March and would like to at least get a feel for what all goes on at the gatherings. My husband and I are still not sure we can make this Event due to others at work already away during this time on vacations and such If we are able to breakaway at the last minute, would like to drive down as a Rally spectator for a few hours Would that be okay ? Anything in particular we would need to do just to drop by and hang out for a while ? ---------- LELLY and DAVE 05' Convertible

Hi Lelly, Ron put it well. We'd love to see you there. It's a social event, so that pretty well covers it for you. You'll meet alot of great people and get some ideas for your PT if you'd like to make some changes. Hope you drop by if you're in the neighborhood. Yeah! I'm so glad you can make it! The event is rain or shine. The big storms are coming through today. According to NOAA, there's just a 20% chance of rain on Saturday, which means it probably won't. Friday is about 40-60%. Showers usually don't last very long here. We had a little shower last year during the show-n-glow (during the drought!) and it was all fine. The judges are looking at the lights—not the cleanliness or rainspots on the cars. For those staying to sightsee on Sunday, it is supposed to be gorgeous. ----------

Folks who are already registered received this e-mail last week. But for those who are coming but not preregistered, here are a few notes. New: Car Wash Available This year we will have a car detailer on hand at the host hotel on Friday from approximately 1-6 p.m. A basic interior cleaning/exterior wash is $25. If you want the whole kitten kaboodle (including wax), it's $85. There are several packages to choose from, but the base is $25. Just as fyi, the pollen has started to fall here; if your car is waxed, it will brush right off. Attention: Show-n-Glow We have about a dozen folks entered in the show-n-glow; twice as many as last year! Please remember that neons are not street legal in Alabama. Do not drive anywhere with them turned on! If a law officer pulls you over, he/she will make you cut your wires. So please remember to not turn them on at all until we are ready for the contest. They can be turned on as long as the car is parked; not while it is moving. (In other words, don't even drive from the hotel to Milo's with them on.) Our Show-n-Glow contest will be held Friday night at Milo's hamburgers, near the host hotel. We will roll over there around 7 p.m. with judging at 8 p.m. Bring your chairs so we can enjoy burgers, the best sweet tea in the state, and fried peach pies while we visit around our Cruisers. In case a shower passes through, there is plenty of room to sit and eat inside. What to Bring • Your chairs: You'll want them for the show-n-glow Friday and the show at Vulcan on Saturday. • Sunscreen: Although it's not hot and humid yet, please wear sunscreen! • Cooler: We will have tea and water available at the picnic, but feel free to bring beverages/soft drinks of your choice. Please note that we can't have alcohol at Vulcan Park or in the Milo's parking lot. • Dress in layers: Right now the temps are in the mid-70s in the day with cool temps at night (50s). You might want to bring a jacket. AL weather can be unpredictable. Go ahead and bring an umbrella or rain jacket, just in case. • Canopy: You don't have to bring one, but if you do, make sure you have weights for it. (I bought some at Academy sports for about $25.) There will likely be pavement behind your Cruiser on Saturday, so I can't guarantee that you'll be able to stake it. April can be windy, so you'll need weights for it. • Dusting wand or mitt: As stated earlier, pollen has started to fall here. Maybe it will be over by next week, but just in case, bring a duster if you want to brush it off on Saturday. Please visit our new Web site. If your local club isn't listed among our links, please e-mail it to me, and we'll be happy to add it. (Same for shows.) http://al.ptcruiserclub.org/alabama/ ----------

Less than 24 hours until the rally opens! I wanted to pass along just a few last-minute tidbits. Car Detailing I just talked to the man who owns the car detailing service. Because the rain is predicted to come later tomorrow, he has offered to arrive at noon. He will be in the far right corner of the LaQuinta parking lot in the back. Weather According to NOAA Friday: Chance for showers begins Friday afternoon. Chance of rain Friday night is 100%. (Sorry. But look at it this way; you can sqeegie the water off Saturday morning for a streak-free shine.) High 78. Saturday: Slight chance of rain (20%) early. Weather should be fine during the show. High 68, Low 50 Sunday: Sunny, High 79 I will be checking into the hotel tomorrow after lunch. The host suite room # will be posted at the front desk. Come there to pick up your goody bag and car placard for the show-n-glow and the main car show. The placard has your name and registration number; it goes on your dash for the judges' reference. For those arriving Saturday, I will have your things near the DJ's tent. Looking forward to seeing you! Rhonda ----------

Hi, guys! Just wanted to tell everyone about a new blog at al.com, Engine Block. We hope to cover as many automotive events around Alabama as we can. One of the very first ones we attended was the Heart of Dixie PT Rally and had a great time. You can check out our video here. We'd love to have some photos from the rally as well, and encourage anyone who attended to share them with us. Email me, Chris Tutor, and we'll get them up on the site as soon as possible. Please spread the word about Engine Block and help us give Alabama car enthusiasts the coverage they deserve! Chris Tutor Engine Block al.com

Thanks, y'all! Kinky Kitty knows me too well—that's exactly what I did yesterday! I took off on Monday to sleeeep. I had a ball. It was so fun having everyone here. Sorry about the rain. I will move it to later in April next year. I need to check and see when Easter falls next year. I will get my photos up soon and post the link. Those of you who took pics, I'd be grateful if you'd put them on a CD and send them to me! Also note that we are on the Engine Block, as posted above! We had 37 Cruisers. That's 30% more than last year, even with the rain! Love y'all, and see you soon. ----------
