Is engine hesitation or stumbling to be expected after engine has sat overnight? It is consistant every morning. I have the 05 GT 220 H.P. engine. ----------

I wonder if this is an '05 issue? My '03 runs like a scared rabbit even cold. ---------- 2003 Inferno Red GT, 5spd, Stage 1, custom intake pipe, VAK UCP, Airaid Intake, Borla exhaust and a bunch of other stuff.

Don't know if its an 05 GT problem, this is my first ever Chrysler and first ever turbo.......if left sitting overnight (garage kept) the "hesitiation/stumble" only lasts for about one minute, and then its fine for the rest of the day.....since day one. I notice that this condition is persistant regardless of ambient outside temperature, rain, snow, or extreme heat. Nothing's perfect........I can live with it ---------- This car doesn't drive "55"

Like yours, my hesitation ends after a minute (at the most). Up to that minute, though, it is really noticeable.....I'm not pushing the car....the hesitation is noticeable under very modest acceleration.....just backing out, when you barely give it gas, it doesn't react.....the natural reaction is to give it more gas; than, by George, it catches and any unknowing passengers think you hit the gas hard on purpose ----------

Sounds like our cars were born of the same womb. Your explanation fits mine to a tee. Actually this is my first ever 4 cylinder car, always had V-8,s and I think that may be the noticeable difference when just driving off when the engine is stone cold. I will just wait out the 60 seconds.... I think I'll live ---------- This car doesn't drive "55"

Well, I feel better now.....not that others have a problem!; rather, I am glad my car doesn't have a defect, misadjustment, or whatever that is unique. Like others, I can live with it. Thanks guys! ----------

I noticed the same problem right after I had bought mine July 2004 & took it in, the diagnostics were fine.... I was recommended : when your turn your ignition you only turn it half way & wait for the 4 or 5 "dings" to complete this helps the computer to read everything then start the car, since I have done that it is just fine, but when I get in those "hurry" modes & got out to the car & diectly start it I notice the "hesitency" Try & see if it works!!! ---------- Crystal~ Life is like road trip & really sweet in a PT Cruiser! #1276

Thanks. Very interesting... I will try that (waiting a few seconds after I turn the key before I crank the engine.) Two theories so far: 1) Give time for the computer to "read" conditions. 2) Inferior ignition wires and/or bad plug gap. Will the correct theory please stand up. I'll report results of the "wait a few seconds" theory tomorrow. ---------- Top Down better than Bottoms Up

Another problem that can exist is low fuel pressure. When you go to start, do wait for the ding ding to stop, it also gives the fuel pump a chance to get up to pressure before starting, since the pressure leak down is very slow, usually taking several hours to become a problem. I make it a point to wait till the fuel pump stops (the little buzzing from the right rear) before trying to start it first thing in the morning. Starts and runs perfectly everytime. ----------

Oh CruzrBug, I thoroghly enjoyed your two theoritcal condensed version of what I said in such a long drawn out way! & Yes I also recall that it is the Turbos that have more of this problem, but you probably still ought to have it followed up with, especially if it is underwarranty ---------- Crystal~ Life is like road trip & really sweet in a PT Cruiser! #1276

Not to suggest what is or isn't normal. Just my experience... Our two '03 Turbos don't exhibit hesitation when cold or warmed up. One has 26K miles. The other 42K miles. Both running stock everything. I usually let the engine run for around 30 seconds or so, before driving away. Not sure if that has any effect. ----------
