Hood Ornaments Can't Post

Hi All,Wave

I'm new to the forum and a new 2007 shiny silver PT Cruiser Touring Edition owner. Where do you find hood ornaments for PT Cruisers? Also, do dealerships' service departments install after market items, do you install them yourself, or is there another solution?

Thanks! Cheering

Re: [peateacrooz] Hood Ornaments Can't Post

CheeringHI PEATEACROOZ, WELCOME TO THE FORUM. I do not know what you have in mind for hood ornaments? There are scoops, chrome windshield- I don't know what they are called, sprayers? I am sure everyone will lol at that. Maybe you like flames?
My car's name is Pete and he is in the body shop having a scrape fixed on his bumper- it was there when I got it and had to be taken off and painted. Plus I am having my PT Logo Tail Lights painted and installed.
I get my Mods little by little. The job I am having done is very costly.
I have to leave my car for two days! I told them to be careful with it, then had to go check on it after work and there it was with no bumper. They were painting it and part of it was white. Be so glad when tomorrow comes. I am sort of attached to my car as everyone on here knows by now.
So good luck finding what you like. I am sure you will get tons of websites and you will see all these amazing things you can get for this car.
There is also a store on this site, check that out.
Enjoy your Cruiser, MickeyWave

Hi Peateacrooz!

Congrats on your new cruiser and your choice of year and color. Sounds like we're twins. Dance

Your first stop looking for a hood ornament might be http://www.ptcruiserclubstore.com/...php?products_id=2086

I'm not sure how them mount, but I have not seen many things that were terribly difficult to install/mount.

Re: [MICKEY41] Hood Ornaments Can't Post

Hi Mickey41,Cheering

Thanks for the welcome! If you look at TerryR's answer below, it has a website that shows a hood ornament on a PTC. It's an ornament that is attached to the front of the hood and old cars had them so it's a real retro look.

Enjoy getting your car back tomorrow! I don't have a name for mine yet - I'm thinking about Sweet Pea but I'm not sure.

Re: [TerryR] Hood Ornaments Can't Post

Hi TerryR,Cheering

Sounds like we have good taste! I had a silver Honda Accord before I got my Cruiser and I really like the silver PTCs. They remind me of the Monopoly game car tokens for some reason! I think the hood ornaments are a great addition - very retro.

Thanks for your help with the hood ornament information!

CheeringHi Midnite Cruiser!

I will give those sites a look-see. Thanks for the information.

How did you get your Cruiser so nice and shiny? We've been wondering what type of wax to use on my new silver Cruiser.

Re: [peateacrooz] Hood Ornaments Can't Post

Cheering HI AGAIN PEATEACROOZ, GREAT NAME! I love it and I hope Sweet Pea and Pete will meet one day. I love those scoops. Some cars here have them. Always have to wave like crazy at anything Retro. I wonder if there is a book that tells what is Retro and what is modern, I want to keep mine Retro. Those tail lights aren't I suppose, oh well I love them.
I do like that ornament too. I can remember when all cars had them. Well, you gave me something to think about. I don't think a scoop and ornament will work.
Good luck in picking one!
What you say about Mdnite Cruiser's shine is so right on. I love that car. Maybe if I put on multi coats of wax? I will check out the sites, he sent you. DanceMICKEY

Re: [MICKEY41] Hood Ornaments Can't Post

Mine came off of a HD Motor Cycle so maybe if you check out the bike shops they can help you.You need to have something with a curve on the bottom.Mine is an eagles head and the eye's light up. Or maybe those old car shops ,remember the GM line of older cars the indian chief or the dodge ram. I have one from an indian motor cycle If I ever find a bust of a Shelty I'm going to have it mounted as a Shelty Dog. lastly, try hemmings.com , they have a used parts list, You may find something there.

Re: [silvereagle] Hood Ornaments Can't Post

Cheering THXS Silvereagle, I will check these places out. We have a museum of sorts in a town near me called Pioneer Village and they have a huge building full of the old cars with hood ornaments. I love to go look at all of them. On my Dad's Nashes , he had hood ornaments. I really like them. Thanks for the suggestions. MICKEY Wave
