I like the present style and would like updated mechanicals. Dreaming now, I would like to see a modern flathead V8 (flatheads are narrow so would fit in present chassis) with the hood just a little more upright so it would fit and a very strong automatic transmission (can anyone one say torque-flite A727) and manual transmission with at least 6 gear ratios, driving the rear wheels. I like the size of the present cruiser and really would not like to see it get much bigger. A larger vehicle just means more weight and lower gas mileage. A nice torqueeee small V8 200-250 cu-in (small HEMI in leu of the flathead) that can run about 1500-1800 at 65 would give good gas mileage, but still have plenty of punch with mod-ability. With rear wheel drive there are a lot more options for axle ratios, wheels, transmissions and the ability of the average person to do the work. ----------

Hi, I want it to look like a PT Cruiser, that is the main thing for me. I want to be able to recognize it coming towards me. The technical stuff is up to you that know what you are talking about. I would like some nice things added like rear spoilers, leather seats, mag wheels, something maybe to save us mod dollars. Good luck to the ones who want hemi's and and flatheads,(?) lol, Mickey ---------- 2005 ELECTRIC BLUE CLASSIC Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. Quote: cribbed from Allpar.com: Whither the PT Cruiser? Some rumors have the next PT Cruiser being based on the Journey, apparently because of the planned Chrysler variant and the fact that the Journey will be made in Toluca, where the PT is currently made. Rumor also says it would look nothing like the current PT which does not have a great following in executive ranks. However, things change, and Chrysler has been getting better at surprising us - remember the Dodge Crew?

Hi, I would like to keep the general shape of the PT, but it should be a little bit bigger at least in the trunk. I would also like to see some nice and big chrome packages. There should be the equivalent to a touring model as a base with a standard V-6. (the 2.7L V-6 found in the 300) There also should be a GT model with a HEMI V-8 with MDS so that you have a gas saving 4 cyl. in the city and a powerful V-8 HEMI for the highway. On another note, the 10th anniversary PT should be something spectacular, like nothing else on the road (not even a current special edition PT). ----------

I presume they mean within Chrysler's executive ranks and not potential customers; I only ask this because I've seen exactly that sort of idiotic "thinking" from marketing departments far too many times. Who cares if executives like the PT Cruiser, right? And, frankly, I'm not all that certain that it should matter whether Chrysler executives "like" the car - all they need to like are its numbers, and even if its sales have dropped somewhat, the PT Cruiser still sells well for a car that has been virtually unimproved since it started selling 7 years ago. I say, "unimproved," rather than "unchanged," because when looking through a comparison chart of the model years, it's clear that Chrysler has done a bang-up job of decontenting the Cruiser, which, to me, is tantamount to sabotage - they've intentionally reduced its ability to compete against more conventional cars in its market through reducing options and standard features, not to mention starting to homogenize its unique styling; it's no wonder sales are down. Hopefully, the folks at Cerberus and the new executives coming into the company will take this opportunity to embrace the PT Cruiser once more and make it the class leader, instead of mouthing lame excuses such as "retro isn't trendy any more," while Chevy continues to improve the MeToo Cruiser - errr, HHR. If the next PT is going to be a Journey with a different fascia, however, well, don't bother, Chrysler; your work will be complete and you'll have chased off paying customers who are looking for the unique qualities and style the PT Cruiser offers - the last thing we need is another generic crossover, of any size. We'll be amazed that "retro isn't trendy" even as you unleash the Dodge Challenger on the streets, as the Mini continues to expand, as Fiat brings the new 500 here, and as your competitors continue to steal the PT's vision and paste it on a Cobalt chassis. If you're smart, though, you'll wrap a familiar and be-fendered body around new, modern mechanicals, engineered properly so it isn't 20% too heavy, with a world-class engine offering both horsepower and fuel economy, and you'll see that the slump in sales wasn't the fault of the car, but its caretakers. Maybe you should talk to Chip Foose, or attend the Detroit Autorama ... see just how cool "retro" can really be. ---------- On a cellular level, I'm really quite busy!

Thanks, folks! I've already posted essentially this same sentiment on two of the Chrysler blogs, as well as the SavethePT petition. I definitely want to see our car have a long and healthy life, and the MSNBC article about Cerberus looking at killing a number of their products, which also mentioned that they were taking a hard, positive look at the PT Cruiser in light of the HHR's success, gives me at least some hope. ---------- On a cellular level, I'm really quite busy!
