Inner door panel removal, 06 model

I am trying to remove the inner door panels from my 06 model so that I can put some welting in the seams. I have done this hundreds of times on other vehicles and have had little or no troubles. I can't seem to get them off of the cruiser. I have removed the two screws from under the arm rest and the one from under the door release. I have removed the snap-on cover from the "A"piller in the outside mirror region, and I have removed the cover from the door lock button. It seems that no matter how hard I pry, I can't get the panel to snap out. I fear that any more force will damage the plastic panel. Is there some secret to removing this panel from the pt cruiser? ----------

Lol, let me know too. I've tinkered with this on my PT before, but since I've damaged the cardboard backing on some of my older cars when I popped the plastic clips out, I don't want to hurt this one! ----------

Got it figured out. Go to NAPA or some other good auto parts store and buy a "Trim Tool". Mine cost $8.49 and it looks like a crooked, forked screw driver. It works good and makes the job very easy. ----------

I just used a large blade flat tip screwdriver of course moving very slowly and surely to be careful and not scratch paint. ---------- DC1 #1610--5-speed. Its got some stuff. '03 Inferno Red--Its getting some stuff too!

Ther panel is held by clips, metal or plastic, that clip into the inner metal door. They are hard to pry loose. A specil tool helps by fitting it under the panel next to the clip. A screwdrive is a poor substitute. The tool is inexpensive. FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL REMOVAL (1) Release door latch and open door. (2) Lower door glass. (3) Remove screw from inside arm rest pull cup (Fig. 11). (4) Remove fasteners from door trim panel. (5) Remove screw from behind inside remote handle. (6) Disengage push-in fasteners attaching trim to door panel around perimeter of trim panel. (7) Tilt trim panel outward to clear locator pins on backside of trim panel. (8) Disconnect trim panel from retainer channel in inner belt weatherstrip at top of door by lifting while gently jiggling. (9) Move trim panel away from door and disengage clip attaching inside remote handle link. (10) Remove inside remote handle link. CAUTION: Do not allow door trim panel to hang by the wire connector or wiring. (11) Disconnect wire connector from power door lock switch, mirror switch, and power window switch if so equipped. (12) Remove trim panel from door. ----------
