I forgot to ask. If i get this cold air intake, do I really need to cut the weatherstrip like the picture shows? There has been plenty of rain and snow this year and the more tight the engine compartment is, the better I feel. What is involved in putting it on too. Do I need to replace things or move things etc.? Just wandering if you knew or if anyone can shed loght on this. ----------

Have you gotten this intake yet? I got it last year. Goes on easy, no cutting anything for installation. basically snaps right on. Eventually, I may create a whole new intake manifold. We'll see... ---------- DC1 #1610--5-speed. Its got some stuff. '03 Inferno Red--Its getting some stuff too!

Hi, I have not yet bought that intake, I am still thinking about it. I am still a little worried about water getting into the engine through the open air filter. I know this guy with a corvette who has a cold air intake and he was warned mot to use his car in the rain or through big puddles. Around here the rain really pours. ----------

Because the Airaid clamps on to the existing box this should not be an issue. It also seals against the hood at the top of it. I don't have any trouble at all and I have put on about 10,000 miles right here in Oregon in the great northwet. If you are still concerned then just go for the K&N drop in filter and save some money while you're at it. ---------- DC1 #1610--5-speed. Its got some stuff. I know this guy with a corvette who has a cold air intake and he was warned mot to use his car in the rain or through big puddles. Around here the rain really pours. I also live in Oregon where we get a lot of rain 9 months out of the year. I had the Airaid intake, with the rubber cut out, on my '01 PT for over two years with no problems with rain. You'd have to practically submerge the car to get enough water into that intake to cause hydrolock. Your friend with the Vette and cold air intake is being silly. The cold air intake would have to be below the bumper and he'd have to hit a real deep puddle to cause a problem. It would be pretty stupid to try and drive through a flooded street anyways. ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto
