I just spotted this article about the PT. I guess in a nutshell it says that the PT is gone in 2009 unless there is an emergency such as the failure of the Dodge Journey. http://www.ptcruizer.com/concepts/2010-pt.html ----------

Nothing with Chrysler would surprise me except if they decided to keep the PT and do what we all have asked. ----------

Thanks for the site, Leo. I think we all have heard this and I am just glad I have mine. All the blogging and giving our opinions seems to have done no good. Many said it would not make a difference and I guess they were right. I hope our cruises and get togethers will continue. Also our forums. Will the vendors still be in business for us? I gave up trying to figure out if they're keeping the PTC or not. I've read so many conflicting articles. One says it's gone for sure, the next says just the covertable is gone. I don't the Chrysler even knows if they're keeping it or not!! I'll know for shure in 2009. -Ray ----------

With the article this past week that I read(and cannot find now LOL)that under the "Restructuring"Plan that the "new" Chrysler, they will cut as much as 1/2 of the versions of vehicles and as possibly cut 1/2 the Dealerships as there are now !!!(Chrysler/Dodge /Jeep) We'll see and GM isn't any better off either after their last year tally !!! It wouldn't suprise me at all.I have noticed that in Chrysler advertisements you see the 300,The Town and Country but no PT Cruiser, even in the background of shots in the dealership. They probably have made up thier mind already and are fixing it so that sales of the PT Cruiser do not improve under any circumstances.I will have Miss CRN till her wheels fall off and she is non repairable.God Bless.........Mike ---------- Mike Casabianca His: 2001 Black LE with Auto Transmission, BullDog Signs Flames, WeatherTec wind deflectors, cargo area mat, PT trash can, PT valve stem caps and Dart's coldair intake, chrome tail and headlight bezels, chrome bumper inserts, chrome license plate pillow, chrome fender trim, 1940's retro chrome on front and back fenders, door spears, chrome hatch door trim, chrome gas door, brushed chrome door sills, billet door pins, custom "BlueHaze" dash mat, MRK Group lugnut covers, dome light trim, etc. and the chrome goes on...... The St.Louis area dealers have been showing the PTC in their ads lately. I was suprised to see them. I had to chuckle when they showed 30MPG. Umm. No. But I was glad to see ads for it!! Maybe your area dealers don't like their PTCs? -Ray ----------

Same exact thing here in this area. The dealerships are showing commercials with the PT and they say 30MPG! If you go to a Chrysler dealer with PTs, all the windows have stickers that either say 30MPG or "Gas Saver".
However, the big corporate Chrysler ads have abandoned the PT. ----------

Here in the New York and New Jersey area they only show the Corperate Chrysler ads.The local Stealer that runs a ad on the cable channels basically is a blurb by the owner about thier wonferful ,GAG,customer service and a wide shot of the Stealership.Maybe in your respective areas they are trying to clear thier existing inventory also. The one thing that we thought was a detriment in 2002 has actually been a bonus now that gas is 3+ dollars a gallon. The PT is the only vehicle in Chrysler's inventory that has a 4 cylinder engine. It may not get the best mileage in the world but how many 4 cylinders can haul whatever you want within reason and also adapt to seat 4 adults comfortably. If chrysler was smart they would seize on this fact and let the unconverted know there is a alternative to the soccer mom mode of transportation, the Town and Country, with a 4 cylinder powerplant that looks great while you drive it.We shall see what developes in the future....All the best and God Bless.......Mike ---------- Mike Casabianca His: 2001 Black LE with Auto Transmission, BullDog Signs Flames, WeatherTec wind deflectors, cargo area mat, PT trash can, PT valve stem caps and Dart's coldair intake, chrome tail and headlight bezels, chrome bumper inserts, chrome license plate pillow, chrome fender trim, 1940's retro chrome on front and back fenders, door spears, chrome hatch door trim, chrome gas door, brushed chrome door sills, billet door pins, custom "BlueHaze" dash mat, MRK Group lugnut covers, dome light trim, etc. and the chrome goes on...... I was at my dealer getting a transmission filter for my 04. My wife is pushing me to replace my 04 with an 08 so I can get a newer PT and the lifetime warranty (her 07 has the lifetime warranty). Now she is pushing to keep my 04, get an 08 and drive the 04 into the ground before using the 08 for work. In any case, I was talking to the salesman we use (who is great). He loves the PT and said the last he's been told is that there will be an 09 PT, but after that is undecided. He can't understand why they are not pushing it and updating it. Last Friday he sold 3 of them. He also just bought one for his daughter. The dealer is getting them in and selling them quickly. They have 2 Sundet Blvd Cruisers which look really nice. Hopefully, Chrysler will see that with a little updating and publicity, these cars can continue to do well. We looked at the Journey, and that is a really nice car. but it really shows how well designed the PT is when you do a compaison. Given the size difference, you would expect the Journey to be MUCH bigger inside, but that really isn't the case. I could go for a Journey though if I had to ! ----------

Dodge says the 2.4 I4 World Engine (in the new Journey) will get 19 mpg in city and 25 mpg on the highway with the four speed automatic transaxle. It appears that engine will not be available with a manual transmission. The Journey will also be available with a 3.5 V6 which will get 16 and 23 with the front wheel drive model. Journey has some neat features but lacks retro style in my view. The 3.5 V6 in the PT Cruiser would be a trip. Bill V. 2007 PT Cruiser "Tweety Bird" ----------
