Looking at '03 DC2???
|
Can't Post

I think we are going to look at an '03 DC 2 (Tangerine) tommorow. It has 34k miles on it, clean carfax, being sold by a 5 star Chrysler dealer. A couple of questions:Do all DC2s have a satellite radio-even if its not activated? should I see original tires-if so what brand were they? what should I look for or look out for?? how about the turbo-is this the premimum gas engine? any quirks? anything? Thanks! ----------

Here in canada sat radio was not standard may have been standard in USA. Standard tires are Goodyear Eagle RSA 205-50-17. To be correct, they should be extra load. ---------- 04 DC3#384, returned via lemon law. NOW 04 DC3#392 Both are 5 speeds. The engine does use premium gas. Apparently the Sirius satellite radio was part of the package. ---------- I'm at that awkward age. I ask for the senior discount at restaurants, but my PT still has Stage 1 and dual 10" subwoofers.

Well, The Dream was a nightmare!!!! @34k miles (supoesidly)(I know by now that someone in this world has invented an electronic gismo to hook up to any given vehicle and manipulate the odometer readings) Battery was COVERED with corrosion badly! Rear hatch door around the latch outside looked worse with scuffs than any taxi trunk lid I've ever seen. drivers seat looked like a heavy person entered and exited quite frequently. rear seat was dirty and don't know IF any attempt was made to clean it. passengers door upright pillar had a ding in it. Tires were about 60% worn out BF Goodrich of proper size. Original floormats reflected LOTS of wear on fronts, espessely drivers side. This DC 2 was on a 5 star Chrysler dealers used car lot near the back, now I know why. It had been a lease vehicle from new, then in '04 or '05 it had been registered as a commercial vehicle, that tells me it was used commercially, thus the reason for the wear on a barely 4 year old vehicle. ----------

It's really a shame that the DC2 you drove all that way to look at had been so abused We have 35K on ours now, and it still looks great! Just to confirm, the US tangerine cars did come with a Sirius satellite CD radio from the factory....but if the subscription hasn't been maintained it'll only receive AM/FM off the air (we didn't renew it). Look for the little black lump of an antenna on the roof near the rear spoiler if you have any doubt. I've not heard of a device that can change the odometer readings on these cars, since I think the information is stored both in the actual gauge cluster as well as the ECM.....but I suppose anything is possible I have seen PT's with battery corrosion so bad that they actually dissolved away much of the terminal clamps!!! It's a good thing you walked away from this car, but keep looking as there are nice ones available out there that people have actually cared for properly Brian ---------- 5-speed Dream Cruiser S2 #1582 with MP S1 & BOV, Plastic Intake Manifold, rear Eibachs, Supertrapp axle-back exhaust, Crane FireWires & K&N drop-in. Plastic Chrome AMX TTAB AGP UCP and H&R Coilovers coming soon.

Clive, The DC2 is probably still down on HOLLYWOOD Chrysler (Florida) and had a price of $14, 900, and an internet price of $12, 900, what a beat up OVER-used POS it was, I wouldn't give them $6K for it!! ----------

Yikes!! $12.9K sure sounds like a lot for a DCS2 in such poor condition. Best wishes and good luck in your search for a more minty example! ----------

For the record, I paid 10,800 for my DC1 which exhibited signs of wear (a few scratches in plastic and missing floor mats) and didn't have the original wheels. ---------- DC1 #1610--5-speed. Its got some stuff. '03 Inferno Red--Its getting some stuff too!

Congrats on the new silver GT! BTW, I just checked out Hollywood Chrysler's website and the DCS2 isn't listed, *but*, they do seem to have a Dream Cruiser Series 3 up for grabs. They're calling it a "GT", tho it's the DCS3 color scheme and I can see the Dream Cruiser badge on the tailgate. Asking price is $14,995. 29K miles on the clock. ----------
