Re: [pennywise] Mopar Battery Can't Post

Any battery should last the amount of time shown on the battery. (60 month, 30 month, etc.) My Mopar battery lasted 36 months (3 years) before it started to give problems with draining with my electrical equipment. Now I have a DieHard Weatherhandler and it has been pretty good, especially when the temperatures fluxuate from 75 in the day to 21 at night.

If your battery is draining fast, I would check it for a drain of some sort such as a light that will not go off or something. I would also go to an auto store for a free charging system test.

However, a new battery might be in order soon.

Good Luck

Re: [pennywise] Mopar Battery Can't Post

Be alert to batery warrantys. When they offer 60 months it is usually pro-rated. However the depreciation on some starts from day one. Others offer full free replacement for a time period (like one year), with the pro-rating starting at the end of the free replacement. I have seen the cheepist batteries last seven years. Battery life is determined by battery construction, and the owner usage pattern. Cold weather kills a battery. Keeping the electrolite level proper will extend the life. Keeping the electrical system at 100% will help. Often drainage without the engine running will shorten the life. There are many verables.

The OEM battery in my 2002 TE which was built in April 2002 is still going strong and the winters here in PA can be rough!
oooThe battery in our 2003, built in Nov. 2002, is doing just as well.

Not wanting to ever get stuck I have always changed the battery every 4 years no matter how it is doing. Called preventive maintenance.

CoolHi.....from personal experience on both of our Cruisers........Mopar Batteries SUCK!!!!!!!!!.Neither lasted longer than 2 years before throwing them in the trash. You are far better off getting a 8 year Interstate Battery from your mechanic and will walk away with a few bucks in your pocket and a far superior product...Take Care and God Bless......Mike
