Mopars at the Battleship Can't Post

The weather was perfect for Mopars at the Battleship in Mobile, Alabama! Okie came down for the show and won Furthest Driven and Top 10.

Gene and Pam also won Top 10...

...and so did I.

I even got to hold an alligator! (He was not affiliated with the show; I saw him the day before.)

Re: [HipCat] Mopars at the Battleship Can't Post

Congrats!

I was supposed to be there and got stuck with being on call. Mad

Had to be able to get online with a computer quick, if necessary. I almost risked it, but good thing I didn't. It turned out to be a busy day and I would have been scrambling to find a hot spot.

Hoping for August! Cheers

Terry

Hi Rhonda, Glad you had a good time and the weather was nice. How come that little critter has it's mouth taped shut? Thanks for the pics. Slipfit

AU, If that's the type of 'gator' hunting you were talking about before, it looks like Hipcat can head up the team. I'd probably like her methods a little bit better and feel safer. Slipfit

And here is Captain Crunch, along with his buddies:

Actually, I headed down to the Gulf a day early to do some other fun stuff. Friday's highlight was visiting Alligator Alley, sort of a home for wayward alligators that had gotten into neighborhoods and were relocated here. I'm big on environmental stuff, so I'm glad that they have a place to relocate these guys rather than just shoot them, like they used to. This place is a fenced off swampland, and you walk on boardwalks above the gators.

Watching this guy feed them pork chops really made me appreciate my desk job! ROFL

The trainer/guide was born in England but grew up in Australia. He asked me if I wanted to hold a baby one, and I said sure! (Keep in mind, I have been terrified of alligators my entire life, so this was huge for me.)

Here is why he taped the mouth shut:

The little guy was wanting to smile for the camera, but I forgot what he told me the force of his bite already was.

But not to worry—the only place we have gators in Birmingham is at the zoo! So everybody's safe for coming down to Oak Mountain for the picnic.

Cool

I had the most fun at this year's show than I've ever had. The weather was just so beautiful, and Okie and Robert are a blast! Saturday they wanted to eat at a local dive with some gen-u-wine seafood, so we all went to the Original Oyster House there on the bay.

Of course, you still have to watch out for the gators.

We talked Robert into trying some cheese grits for the first time. I wish I could have caught his expression on camera. Let's just say he's not real keen on them! ROFL
